    Earlier this week, the internet was buzzing about the release of “Crispy Benjamins”, a track featuring Jay-Z [click to read] which samples singer-songwriter Regina Spektor.

    In a press release, it was revealed that the “Crispy Benjamins” track would be released via a re-release of Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 [click to read]. But it turns out the press release was a complete fabrication.

    Following the circulation of the phony press release MTV reached out to the man whose contact info was listed on the release, Jive Records A&R manager Ant Rich.

    Mirk from the New Familiars produced a track (which I co-produced) that has a Regina Spektor sample in it … which is called ‘Crispy Benjamins,’
    Rich told MTV News. Jay-Z purchased the track for The Blueprint 3, [but it] wound up not making the album. I was told by Jay Brown that there was potential for the song to be used on a re-release. At some point, a press release was sent about the track using my contact information. Neither Mirk nor myself had ANYTHING to do with the press release. We are currently trying to find out who sent it out so we can clear up this matter.”

    Although the information in the press release proved to be false, a spokesperson for Jay-Z [click to read] did reveal that Jay-Z will be releasing his third greatest-hits album on November 24.
