When Charles Hamilton dropped his Jim Jonsin produced single, “Gauchos ,” the producer caught some flack. Now, Jonsin is saying what he thinks about “Sonic” Hamilton’s personality and why he regrets giving the song to him. He also shed some light on who the track should have gone to, in his opinion.
“I’ll be honest,” Jonsin told VIBE. “I wasn’t really into that song at all. I told him and his manager that. There was another song for him that would’ve been much better, but he wanted that one. I love that beat, but I wouldn’t put B.o.B on that record either.”
He also went on to speak on Hamilton’s personality, calling him “a little strange” and “all over the place,” before admitting he wanted the track to go to Young Jeezy or T.I. instead.
“I find Charles Hamilton to be a little strange; he has his own vibe. He’s all over the place, but he’s a really good writer and is easy to get along with. I was going to play the actual track for T.I. or Jeezy. Nothing against what Charles did, but I wish that track went to someone else. (September 3)
UPDATE: In a new interview with The Boom Box, the Florida-based hit-maker clarified his remarks made earlier. Noting that he felt his words were twisted, the Rebel Rock head said that he was honest in revealing that the song was originally intended for T.I. or Young Jeezy. “They asked me some loaded questions — how I felt about him as a person and I said I thought he was great. He’s a great writer, he’s got some good ideas. They asked me some questions about him going to [the mental institution] and if he was strange. Yeah, all of us are strange.” Jonsin reiterated that the music industry is filled with quirky individuals.
Hamilton has yet to publicly react to Jonsin’s initial statements to VIBE.

For the love of fuck, don’t tell me this is the HHDX version of “first”…
You know this kid gets a bad rap for being different though. Dude’s nice, he’s real, and operates within his own lane.

Shut the fuck up. You don’t know what good music is unless it’s marketed to you appropriately.

Charles Hamilton may be weird. You can call him that if you like to, but you can’t say he isn’t talented. This dude can straight up rhyme and write incredible stories. I respect Hamilton a lot and it is great that he stands out from all these other rappers talking about the same stuff and trying to sell the same image as one another. I HOPE SOMEBODY signs him soon.
couldn’t have said it better myself
