JID was admittedly disappointed by the reception to The Forever Story in 2022, but he’s rebounded with renewed energy and is more prepared than ever to deliver some serious heat.

Taking to Instagram to announce a release for this Friday (April 18), the Dreamville rapper gave some insight into his mindset.

“Starting this new journey coming off THE FOREVER STORY has been a very strange, productive, yet tedious process,” he wrote. “I remember not feeling like I got what I think I deserved after that album came out and it sent me into a dark place (for maybe 20 mins cuz I ain’t no bitch).

“Fast-forward to Pluss playing this beat for me in the studio and all I could hear was my OG coach saying, ‘Let’s go to WORK.’ I live my life by the saying ‘You can only control what you can control.’ So this is the first step into a new world that I control…and it’s fuckin UGLY.”

Last month, JID got fans hyped for his upcoming album by revealing that the project was finished.

Speaking to i-D magazine during Paris Fashion Week, he said: “It’s done. It’s turned in — it’s been turned in. It’s coming really fucking soon.

“It’s been a long time in the making and all the t’s are crossed and my i’s are dotted so I think we in a good position to build this new world that I’ve been working on for the past couple of years.”

The “Surround Sound” MC previously revealed that the album will be called Forever & A Day, continuing the theme of past projects The Never Story and The Forever Story.

JID has also been teasing a joint project with Metro Boomin since 2023 when the two were pictured in the studio together – and they finally gave fans a teaser earlier this month.
