Jhené Aiko‘s home has been destroyed in the devastating fires sweeping through Los Angeles, but she is thankful that she and her family are safe.
Taking to her Instagram Story amid the second day of harsh winds and fires in the southern California region on Wednesday (January 8), the singer said: “Praying for everyone this morning. Those who lost their home. Those who lost their life’s work, those who lost their life. Praying for my city. Praying for the wildlife and lost pets. Praying for the world [heart emoji] let suffering be a gift; a lesson in compassion.”
Later that day, she revealed she’d suffered the loss of her home.
“Me and my children’s home is gone [heartbreak emoji] burned to the ground with all of our things inside. Lord have mercy [prayer emoji] thankful we still have each other [heart emoji] Starting from scratch. My heart is so heavy [heartbreak emoji].”
Upon the news hitting the blogs, people began leaving insensitive comments about her financial status, insisting she doesn’t deserve sympathy or to even feel sad because [they assume] she has the means to build it all back. But Jhené had a response to that.
“The fact some of you think I have Paris Hilton money is wild,” she retorted in the comments of The Shade Room. “I don’t got it like that, but I do have a big, loving family that is worth more than anything. [heart emoji] When I was in the second grade, our home burned down with everything in it. I never understood why some of the kids at school were so mean about it, because they thought we were rich when we weren’t. But they thought we were rich because we had love!
“My family and our friends came together and made sure my mom and me and my siblings had at least 1 new sweatsuit and 1 pair of shoes the very next day. I am fortunate enough to be in a better situation than back then. And I pray I can have as much grace as my mother did during that time. I work very hard for my family. I pray that you all stay safe. [heart emoji] God bless.”
As several enormous blazes continued to burn down parts of the city, fellow Los Angeles native The Game announced that he is helping to provide safety and shelter to families who have been forced to evacuate their homes.
“Me & [talent manager Travis Wilson] are helping 10 families effected [sic] by the fires here get into @airbnb for a week free of charge [praying hands emoji],” he wrote on his Instagram Stories.
He then directed those interested to message Wilson on Instagram, adding: “Must have an identification or drivers license with address in the affected areas.
A number of ferocious wildfires erupted across the greater Los Angeles area on Tuesday (January 7), fueled by powerful winds and dry conditions.
At least five people have been killed and over 100,000 people have been displaced, with emergency services struggling to contain the fires as resources are stretched thin and water supplies are running dry.
Over 2,000 structures have been burned down across more than 27,000 acres of land, making it the most destructive fires in L.A. history. It is estimated that the total cost of the damage could surpass $50 billion.
good thing she is praying, just imagine what could have happened otherwise
Isn’t her dad a doctor? I think she’ll be all right.
Your life must be pretty pathetic for you to be so jealous. Money can’t buy what’s really important like family photos or heirlooms or gifts that have sentimental value. The fact you think money cures everything shows you never had any.
I’m pretty successful myself, so I don’t know where you got somebody was jealous. I know one thing, if my house just burned down, I wouldn’t be on Instagram talking about it. If you do that, you open yourself up to comments from other people. Hell, she was shitting on Paris Hilton while looking for sympathy herself.
Because you don’t talk like someone with money. I had a certain number in my head and once I reached that salary I felt… nothing. People I love still passed away, same family BS.. only thing changed was a nicer neighborhood and better vacations. The have a child – it’s mementos that money can’t replace.
Fuck are you talking about weirdo? Log off the internet.
She’s literally worth 6 mil. Her baby daddy worth 26 mil. I’m sure they’ll be fine 🤣🤣
He’s black so divide that by 6.
meh…….. More power to jhene aiko shes all good
Feel a little taste of what you did to Gaza, Syria and Yemen.
Don’t forget Iraq and Vietnam those people are so resilient it took a coalition of Nations to go in there and they still couldn’t get it done and look how fast those countries rebuilt honest to God bro if you’re not a citizen of the world and you consider yourself American and you think you’re better than somebody cuz they’re not American you’re the stupidest kind of person on this Earth and I pity you I’m not calling you that I’m just saying in general I agree with what you’re saying big time
I feel bad but then again I don’t. California gets wildfires multiple times a year, it’s the cost of living there similar to if you live in Florida don’t be surprised if a hurricane levels your house
If you live in Kansas dont be surprised if a tornado levels your house. I feel bad for the avg Joe n poor folks who probably ain’t got house insurance lost everything, and doesn’t have the bank account to just start over againzwhere you left off
Thank you. I lived in Florida before and my brother just moved back. I told him when he went back, hurricanes knock shit down everyday B. Same thing with Cali. It’s the reason I declined relocating there about ten years ago with a business opportunity. Shit there costs too much, and those wildfires happen every year. But you got this one dumbass on the page talking about you must be jealous. No, people are wondering why are these people clout chasing on the internet instead of doing what they need to do. Like build your house on a sinkhole and then expect sympathy.
