Jennifer Lopez has announced the cancellation of her summer tour, with the diva revealing that she was devastated about the impact it would have on her dozens of fans.
In an official statement released on her website on Friday (May 31), the sometime actress said she was “heartsick” about having to scrap the planned trek.
“I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down,” she wrote. “Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary.”
She continued: “I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time…”
An announcement from Live Nation explained that Lopez was “taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends.”
“Sources close to Lopez” insisted to Variety that the tour was not scrapped over low ticket sales.
Despite those protestations, the tour has been plagued with problems since its inception.
On April 3, NME reported that the trek’s official name has been amended to This Is Me… Live | The Greatest Hits.
Variety also revealed that the singer and actress axed seven dates of the run at that point, affecting ticketholders in Cleveland, Nashville, Raleigh, Atlanta, Tampa, New Orleans and Houston.
The notice to those who were hoping to attend shows in the aforementioned cities simply read: “Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event. No action is required to obtain a refund.”
Following news of the tour’s reportedly disappointing ticket sales, and just days before it was scrapped entirely, Jennifer Lopez’s proposed Vegas residency was also placed in jeopardy.
Page Six reported that Lopez, who was reportedly offered $90 million to dazzle the Strip at the MGM Grand for a 90-show residency next year, may have that deal rescinded.
“MGM is watching her not doing well on the road. They are very nervous,” a source close to the situation said to the outlet. “It’s pretty rare you have a poor tour and then go to Vegas.”
Sources close to the situation also claim that Lopez is being offered less money for fewer Vegas dates. Reps for both the MGM Grand and Lopez didn’t return requests for comment by the outlet.
Her downfall was marrying Affleck. Her career’s been downhill ever since
Ummm… No. She been on the downfall way before that.
People get tired of extreme narcissistics.. Jlos no different
Jlo is well known for being a bitch to people she believes to be lower than her. Karma finally got her good.
South Park isn’t accurate at all
^^^ This clown is determined to defend her dying career. You really are the original great greg huh?
She lying. She was getting low ticket sales, and her residency in Vegas was jeopardized due to it. Google the residency concerns. She’s cutting her losses y’all 😂 she doesn’t have the star power anymore.
Don’t know why this article is on a HIPHOP site but the show had less than 30% available seats yet. It’s a solid performance that justified the dates. Her marriage is in jeopardy and that’s why she had to cancel the dates
^^^ You’re as delusional as a drake fan
How much does your buddy, eminem spend on bots to prop up the streams for his houdini flop?
@Lol that actually is a male Drake groupie, his original name was great greg, but people clowned him so much he changed his name 😂 he goes on random rants about Kendrick and Eminem.. to say he’s unhinged would be a huge understatement
“she was devastated about the impact it would have on her DOZENS of fans” Lmao
