Jennifer Lopez continues to receive bad news after it was revealed that her upcoming Vegas residency may be on the rocks thanks to lower-than-expected ticket and album sales.
Page Six is reporting that Lopez, who was reportedly offered $90 million to dazzle the Strip at the MGM Grand for a 90-show residency next year, may have that deal rescinded.
“MGM is watching her not doing well on the road. They are very nervous,” a source close to the situation said to the outlet. “It’s pretty rare you have a poor tour and then go to Vegas.”
Sources close to the situation also claim that Lopez is being offered less money for fewer Vegas dates. Reps for both the MGM Grand and Lopez didn’t return requests for comment by the outlet.
On April 3, NME reported that the trek’s official name has been amended to This Is Me… Live | The Greatest Hits.
The Bronx native’s team hasn’t issued a statement regarding the name change, so it isn’t clear is she plans on bringing back or making up for the shows she recently cancelled.
Variety also revealed that the singer and actress axed seven dates of the run, affecting ticket-holders in Cleveland, Nashville, Raleigh, Atlanta, Tampa, New Orleans and Houston.
The notice to those who were hoping to attend shows in the aforementioned cities simply read: “Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event. No action is required to obtain a refund.”
Though 30 dates remain on the itinerary, the report noted that “large numbers” of tickets still haven’t been purchased.
Jennifer Lopez released her ninth studio album, This Is Me…Now as part of a new deal she signed with BMG last year. The LP is a follow-up to 2002’s This is Me…Then, which spawned blockbusters such as “Jenny From the Block” with Styles P and Jadakiss and “All I Have” with LL COOL J.
HipHopDX‘s 2.3/5 review of the sequel wrote: “As with any album that involves hordes of songwriters, A&Rs and producers, there are plenty of good ideas on here. Most of them, though, sound like they could be sung by anyone.
“For all of the time, money, and energy J.Lo and her team put into the theatrical accompaniment to This is Me… Now, it would have behooved all involved to spend a little more time on the music that the film was meant to accompany.
“This is Me… Now hears Jennifer Lopez constantly tell fans how great her love life is. She rarely bothers to explain why.”
I think promoters fail to realize people over 40 dont go to music concerts, maybe once in a lifetime. Now if she got into stand up comedy, for whatever reason people over 40 love going to those performances.
Bro. Please take your morning meds. I know plenty of people that still go to concerts especially of artists they grew up listening to. JLO just doesn’t have it in her anymore, and people have accepted the fact that she’s a narcissist and a brat despite being in denial for decades.
Go to sleep, bot.
Or could it be that people wised up to the fact she can’t sing. Her music has never been all that. She got gassed when she was dating Puff, and she has been trying to sing ever since. If she had concentrated on acting more, she would be on top now.
And her marriage is on the rocks. Here it comes, boys! She’s one bad day away from opening an Only Fans. Finally we get to see all of that in all of its glory. Yummers.
That used up glory hole has been run by Diddy, nobody wants those washed goods.
She’s nearly 60 and has more rings than the LA Lakers.
God she must be throwing an epic shit fit. She has always been the epitome of arrogance and narcissism. And is anyone surprised her marriage is allegedly in trouble? This bitch loves her weddings but has no idea or interest in making a marriage work.
She ain’t no 50 cent! That man got the biggest tour last year! All sold out!
