Jeezy has accused his estranged wife, TV presenter Jeannie Mai, of “gatekeeping” their daughter as their divorce proceedings continue to unfold.

According to court documents obtained by Page Six, the Atlanta rapper has filed a motion requesting a hearing regarding the custody of their infant child, who will turn two years old in January.

Jeezy, who filed for divorce in September, claims that the child has since been “temporarily residing” with Mai in what was the couple’s Los Angeles home.

“Since that time, the parties have endeavored to address temporary custodial arrangements on an informal basis,” the filing says.

The legal documents continue: “While the parties have agreed upon a visitation schedule through the end of 2023, which has been confirmed via communications between their counsel, to continue addressing custodial and parenting time issues in such an ad hoc manner is becoming increasingly less feasible.”

Jeezy alleges that the “lack of consistency, continuity and stability inherently associated with such a haphazard and fluid parenting time schedule” is becoming “stressful” for their daughter.

The rap veteran also claims that the situation is creating “unnecessary tension and confusion” when it comes to parenting the one-year-old.

Jeezy stresses in the filing that he does not believe his estranged wife is “acting maliciously” but has “acted as a gatekeeper” when it comes to spending time with their child.

The purpose of the filing is to “define the parties’ temporary legal and physical custody rights and set a parenting time schedule consistent with the best interests of the child.”

In his initial divorce filing, Jeezy cited the marriage as “irrevocably broken” and requested joint custody of their daughter. Neither Jeezy nor Mai have elaborated on what led to their split but the rapper recently revealed that they tried couple’s therapy.

In a statement declaring his decision to file for divorce, Jeezy said: “The decision to end this chapter in my life was not made impulsively and comes with a heavy heart. Despite this, my love and respect for Jeannie remains and the time we spent together holds a cherished place in my heart.”

He continued: “Our beautiful daughter is the best gift from our relationship, and I am committed to assuring she feels the love and stability she deserves. During this period, I kindly request that you respect our family’s privacy as we focus on healing.”
