JaDaYoungan was murdered last year, but his team are making sure his legacy lives on with plans for his first posthumous album.
Announced via a post on the late “23 Island” rapper’s official Instagram account, his posthumous LP Forever 23 2x is slated to arrive on February 3.

“JayDaYoungan’s new album “Forever 23 2x” will be released 2/3/23,” the post’s caption read alongside the forthcoming project’s cover art which features a photo of Jay looking down with an icy BG 23 chain pendant hanging from his neck.
Love poured into the comment section from the likes of rap friends such as Fredo Bang, Jackboy and Cinematic Music Group founder Jonny Shipes.

The Louisiana native’s forthcoming album will serve as his first new music since his death.
JayDaYoungan (real name Javorius Scott) was shot and killed outside his home in Bogalusa, Louisiana on July 27, 2022. He was just 24 years old.

According to TMZ,Jay’s father, Kenyatta Scott, claimed his son was sitting in the front yard of his modest Bogalusa home on the evening of July 27 when a black truck pulled up. Three people jumped out firing their weapons as he and his son attempted to run inside.
That’s when Scott said two more people emerged from the side of the house and started shooting. Scott fired back in an effort to defend himself and JayDaYoungan, but it was too late. Scott was struck twice in the arm, while the 24-year-old rapper was hit at least eight times.
JayDaYoungan was rushed to Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in critical condition where he ultimately died as a result of his injuries. No arrests have yet been made in the case.
However, weeks after JayDaYoungan’s murder, his close friend FG Famous was reportedly arrested for shootings said to be in retaliation for Jay’s death.

JayDaYoungan‘s funeral was held at Bogalusa High school in August 2022. According to WDSU, hundreds of people came out for the solemn affair, with many of his friends and family dressed in white and blue.
