Jay-Z’s “Magna Carta Holy Grail” Breaks Two Spotify Records

Released to one million Samsung users on July 4, Jay-Z’s twelfth album, Magna Carta Holy Grail. Five days later, on July 9, Jay’s latest Roc Nation album in full stream was made available to Spotify users. The music streaming service now says that Jay made history.

According to Spotify press releases, Magna Carta Holy Grail “had the biggest first week for an album in Spotify history” with a reported 14 million album-streams in the United States alone.

Additionally, the album produced Swizz Beatz, Timbaland and The-Dream recorded the most streams per day in Spotify in U.S. history. The release did not disclose the tally.

    1. co sign with the guy below..eminem and 2pac can teach this rich pretty boy a thing or two about selling records

      1. Eminem’s next album probably won’t sell that well to be honest. Recovery was way too hit and miss and Hell:The Sequel with Royce was garbage. Every single he’s put out or been on has been garbage. His flow is too complex for its own good and he’s got nothing left to say. He’s trying to do the Slim Shady cartoon violence but he’s 40 so no one cares anymore. His next album will be lucky to sell 500K first week.

    2. I don’t count the 1m samsung sales (they where bought by a company and given away free to their samsung phone users)Great and smart by Jay don’t get me wrong, but until I see the final numbers (minus the samsung milli sales) thats his real net sales for me

gross – (samsung bullshit) = true sales

      just my take on it

      1. Do the Born Sinner albums sales bought by J Cole and Drake count? I’m not saying I disagree, but give it more thought. If you sell a million…you sell a million regardless. It’s a mind puzzle to wrap around though the idea of a company buying 1 million before the album is not availble….But its just like if Samsung throws a party and buys 1 mil. albums to give to the party’s guests..those albums were still sold. Get me?
