JAY-Z Wants Rape Lawsuit Dismissed & Accuser’s Lawyer Fined Over ‘Extreme’ Violations

JAY-Z has yet again called for his rape lawsuit to be dismissed, citing inconsistencies in his accuser’s story and “unethical” conduct from her lawyer.

In a new filing submitted on Wednesday (January 8), Hov’s lawyer Alex Spiro pokes various holes in the woman’s account and calls her attorney, Tony Buzbee, to be sanctioned for failing to properly vet her claims before filing a lawsuit on her behalf.

Arguing for his client’s innocence, Spiro points out that there is photographic evidence of JAY-Z attending a different event to the Diddy afterparty where the woman claims she was raped in 2000 at the age of 13.

He also claims that the woman’s father has “no recollection” of picking her up after she fled the party and notes that Good Charlotte’s Benji Madden, who she claims to have spoken to at the party, was in Chicago — a different city entirely — that evening performing a concert.

“The fact that nearly every step in Plaintiff’s narrative […] turns out to be false or highly unlikely casts considerable doubt on Plaintiff’s allegation that Mr. Carter raped her, which he did not,” Spiro writes.

Turning his attention to Buzbee, he adds: “None of [the allegations] appear to have been subjected to even the most rudimentary diligence by the filing attorney.”

Spiro goes on to call Buzbee’s violations “deeply wrong” and “extreme” given the defamatory nature of the allegations, which have “inflict[ed] irreparable reputational harm” on JAY-Z and forced the rapper to “explain to his own children that he had been falsely accused of assaulting a child.”

Because of this, Spiro is asking the judge to impose monetary sanctions on Buzbee, proposing a reimbursement for Hov’s attorneys’ fees and costs.

Buzbee has since hit back at the filing, saying to Rolling Stone: “With each frantic filing, his team reeks of desperation. He and his team think the laws and rules don’t apply to them. They are flat wrong.

“They also think they can bully or intimidate counsel for victims by filing meritless and frivolous pleadings full of lies and half-truths. Again, they are dead wrong … We will address the utter lack of merit with his filing with the Court, rather than with the press.”

      1. Someone defending themselves seems guilty? Interesting logic. It’s almost like you don’t care whether there’s any evidence and you just WANT him to be guilty. There’s no evidence saying he did it yet there is evidence proving her story is incorrect. I guess logic has no place here though.

      2. Nah it’s like go to court, prove your innocence, then file a defamation lawsuit. The sporadic stream of statements seems like he’s connected to the incident in some manner. I’m not a judge, don’t get mad at me. Saying I want him to be guilty is pretty foul ngl. I don’t want anyone to be involved in stuff like this.

      3. It’s not a criminal case it’s a civil case hence he is trying to stop it regardless of the outcome it’s ‘ot good for his brand

      4. if it’s completely frivolous and he wasn’t there then why not let it go to trial. It’s not like he’s broke. If he doesn’t want it to go to trial that means there’s some element of truth to it in terms of he knows the accuser and the accuser can damage his public image regardless of the trials outcome

      5. The damage is already done though. It’s not like having it dismissed will change public perception, unless you’re an uneducated fanboy. The best course of action if he’s truly not involved is to go to court, prove he was not involved then file for defamation. If he doesn’t want this to go to court, then there’s clearly something he does not want to be revealed in regards to his relationship with Diddy. Seems like knows the ship is sinking and looking sketchy for all these statements is better than whatever would be revealed about him in a civil suit.

      6. You sound stupid to me. There’s no damage if its false and proven false. You seem to just want it to be as damaging as possible and trying to act cute. If its like they say it is the trial will be one day. Its already in the news and many celebrities are facing the same types of lawsuits not just rappers. On here its a lot of anti black talk masquerading as “rap fans” but I guess Kendrick did get a couple sick burns off in the battle
