Jay-Z To Hit The Silver Screen

After rumours surfaced about a year and a half ago, it looks like Jay-Z’s movie, is nearing completion. The Lion’s Gate film, entitled “State Property,” is loosely based on Harlem drug kingpins, AZ, Alpo and Rich Porter. It was directed by Malik Abbott (who’s known mostly for his music videos). Abbot is currently editing the ghetto tale out on the left coast.

“State Property’s” filming was done in just 18-days in New York and New Jersey. Also appearing as costars in the movie are other members of the Roc-A-Fella family including Beanie Sigel, Memphis Bleek and co-owner, Damon Dash. Abbot has described this movie as a “hip hop sopranos” type because it focuses it’s attention on the hustle of the drug game, as well as the very real consequences of the fast life.
