Jay Z, The Roots To Co-Headline Global Citizen Festival

Jay Z is set to be a co-headliner at this year’s Global Citizen Festival. The September 27 show, slated to take place on the Great Law in New York’s Central Park, is also scheduled to feature The Roots, Tiesto and No Doubt, among others.

“Change only takes place when and where there is action,” Jay Z says in a press release from the Global Poverty Project. “I’m joining the 2014 Global Citizen Festival because I believe through actions, whether it be by raising awareness, getting involved or educating ourselves, the goal to end extreme poverty by 2030 is possible.”

MTV reports that the festival is set to coincide with the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The event is also set to focus on benefitting and helping children and young people who live in poverty.

Stevie Wonder, Kings Of Leon and Alicia Keys were among last year’s performers.

Fans can participate on the Global Citizen website and earn points through actions. Eight points are necessary to win passes to the concert and there are five drawings scheduled to take place over the summer. Additional information is available via Global Poverty Project

Beyond this, Jay Z is also planning his Made In America Festivalwhich is set to take place in Philadelphia and Los Angeles.

    1. This is very “The Roots-ish”

They the type of niggas that sit around each other all day to discuss the ecosystem

    2. I thought The Roots didn’t like commercial artists. Oh, I forgot their hypocrites. By the way Hov is old.

    3. Jay Z doesn’t even give back to the Marcy Projects. Jay Z is such a phony. If he wants to start with change, he should give back to the community who grew up in. That’s why everybody in Marcy dislikes Jay-Z, because he has never given back. Just another promotional stunt by Jay Z

      1. Maino already exposed this camel

In the hood they say Hov is a scary dude / He from Marcy but he don’t really come through
