Rappers Kanye West and Jay-Z boast what appears to be a cordial friendship, but according to Jay-Z, there were two records that sparked a four-day long argument between the two emcees.
While speaking with BBC Radio 1 personality Zane Lowe, Jay-Z revealed that the Magna Carta Holy Grail records “Oceans” and “Holy Grail” were recorded around the same time he was working on Watch The Throne with Kanye.
Consequently, the Yeezus rapper petitioned for the placement of “Oceans” and “Holy Grail” on Watch The Throne instead of Jay-Z’s solo album.
“[There were] no lyrics on ‘Holy Grail’ and I recorded ‘Oceans’ and I played those records for Kanye,” Jay explained. “And he was like, ‘No those have to go on Watch the Throne,’ so we spent four days arguing about those records and I was explaining to him why it wasn’t right for this project and I had a whole idea for making this album called Magna Carta… Holy Grail [part of] the name came after.”
Jay-Z later clarified the nature of the argument, explaining that minus the occasional, excitement-fueled shove, it wasn’t physical.
“Four days literally arguing… not like fighting. Well, there was some pushing at one point but not between us, just everyone else got a little excited,” said Jay-Z, according to Pitchfork.
Released on July 4, Magna Carta Holy Grail serves as Jay-Z’s twelfth studio album.

While this may have some element of hate, there is a lot of truth to it. I heard Holy Grail and WT hell? The song sucks. First of it sounds like it is a JT featuring Jy-Z song and the singing goes on too long, which ruins the entire thing.
As far as the album, most of the beats are just disappointing. “Oceans” and especially “FUTW” are nice hip hop beats, but you need a new hungry rapper on his first album for those tracks. Jigga didn’t do them right. “Heaven” almost went there, but the sample was overbearing. “Jay-Z Blue” gets a 9. Its a beat that could have you thinking. Jigga should have stepped up with the lyrics and keep the stupid vocal samples from mommy dearest out of it.
I understand they want to capitalize of JT and its the title song, but “BBC” and “Part II” are the singles not “Holy Grail”. It shows they effed up. Part II does it for me and BBC can just light things up when you’re having a party or hanging out or cruising in the ride. These two songs get a 10 out of 10 but the album as a whole gets a 6.
..and yes, Jay-Z is now a media whore. Most of what we see him doing he does for the write ups.
I hope the Christopher Wallace is getting some checks for all the lyrics Jay-Z bit.
