JAY-Z’s Roc Nation Announces New Merger As Part Of Label Shake-Up

JAY-Z has announced a shake-up at Roc Nation as the record label has merged with Equity Distribution.

Equity was previously the distribution arm of the company, but they are now merging to form one single entity called Roc Nation Distribution, according to Billboard.

Despite the apparent change in focus, with Equity working with independent artists who wished to maintain ownership of their masters, Roc Nation will continue to sign new talent and strengthen its roster.

The merger will see one notable departure from Roc Nation, with co-president Shari Bryant stepping down from her role after five years with the company.

The company operates as a record label and management company, as well as a partner of the NFL overseeing the Super Bowl halftime show and the league’s social justice initiatives.

The label portion of Roc Nation boasts artists such as J. Cole, Rihanna, Jay Electronica and Vic Mensa as well as JAY-Z himself.

Roc Nation also manages the likes of A$AP Rocky, Megan Thee Stallion, DJ Khaled, Jadakiss and Alicia Keys.

Additionally, Roc Nation includes its own sports agency that advises athletes.

NBA players such as Kyrie Irving, Markelle Fultz and LaMelo Ball are represented by the agency, as are NFL stars Saquon Barkley, Jaire Alexander and C.J. Henderson.

Meek Mill recently left the label after a 10-year stint, with JAY-Z addressing his departure on DJ Khaled’s “God Did.”

“Me and Meek could never beef, I freed that n-gga from a whole bid, Hov did,” he rapped on the song. “Next time we have a discussion who the G.O.A.T., you donkeys know this.”

When news first broke about him leaving Roc Nation, Meek assured fans that there were no issues and that he still had other business dealings with Hov.

“All I seen today was meek and roc part ways,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “I’m personally handling my own business so I can take risk and grow ..we came to that agreement together..I have a label deal with roc for my artist and I got reform super tied with them and many other investments wit jigga.”

    2. Roc Nation Distribution is a scam and will lock you out of your account to steal your music and money very poor service
I Released some music with Roc Nation Distribution
And after loading all my music and scheduling some 15 singles release and an album with 13 songs on it I was blocked from my music account and could not reset my password I have sent them email upon email to support and all I got was an automated response telling me that they are very busy and someone will get back to in 5 to 7 business days 5 days later when the did respond they told me all to add a +1 before the @ sign of my email ( google dot trick / got to be kidding me ) and I would get the email to my account and would be able to access the account ( I use yahoo so that won’t work any how)
didn’t work and I sent them a very detailed email with screenshots of everything I was experiencing with their platform and again I got the same email as the first one with the very same response! If you are an artist don’t use this ROC Nation Distributro site to upload your music to streaming platform! Do so at your own risk I have uploaded over 60 songs to theirs platform over 30 of wish were scheduled for release and were released as scheduled on time that I do have to say! And 30 other songs that I did not release yet but are all registered with the rights association SoundExchange and Socan because they have all got copyrights and were songs that I have released before on other platforms during the pandemic and had them taken down to re-release with RND this company seems to be a scam and they will lock you out of your account sending only automated emails that don’t help with the real issues you are facing and locking you out of your music assets you have uploaded to your music account. All of the schedule releases are now on Spotify and other music platforms but I can not access my account after countless emails! I have spoken to my lawyer and will seek legal action for copyright infringement if I cannot Access my assets by next week! I have worked with mostly all the music distributors online up to this date and I have to say this is my worst experience I’ve ever had with any distributor ever since I’ve been releasing music, maybe after this review they will fix this issue but to be collecting 15% of your royalties to put release your music to DSP’s thats very high to not have any customer service in place to resolve real problems you may face
This company has little to no customer service. They send you automated email response to your problems and they will potentially lock you out of your music account with a reset password button that does not work!!! To all the artist out there pick another distribution service this seem to be a scam and I honestly thought this was a serious company but all it is a scam with hiding behind a big name! Be careful Rok Nation is not what you think it is If they fix this problem I will remove this review as it’s been only 6 days since this happen but for now the will get a rating of -100 for the experience I have had so far
Now that I’m investing I just noticed on their instagram page that a lot of artist were complaining about not being able to get into their cash board on the account and not being abele to access their account as well so it’s not only me so to all the music artist out there beware
