Killer Mike claimed JAY-Z was going to bring him out on stage while accepting his Dr. Dre Global Impact Award — had he been in the building.

“Man, what’s crazy is though, Jay was hitting me,” he said. “I didn’t realize as I was going through my thing. Jay was hitting me like, ‘Hold on, stick around. I wanna toast to you.’ And then he hit me later saying, ‘I was gonna concede my time to you.’ Shouts out to Hov.”

Charlamagne Tha God also claimed he got word that JAY-Z was planning to bring Killer Mike out on stage.

“It’s love, though. I appreciate it,” Mike said. “[I got that text] after I got out. Me and him laughing. He said, ‘You want to go and get locked up in the biggest moment ever?!’ I was laughing. It was hilarious, man. You couldn’t do nothing but laugh.”

Killer Mike won the Grammys for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance, before being escorted out of the ceremony in handcuffs following an incident with a security guard.

He claimed he experienced an “over-zealous security guard” and is confident he will be “cleared of all wrongdoing.”
