To document his upcoming “Made in America” festival, Jay-Z has enlisted Oscar-winning duo Ron Howard and Brian Grazer to direct a film about the making of the event.
According to NY Post, Hov plans on having the pair capture artists including Rick Ross, Drake, Skrillex, Run-DMC and Pearl Jam in action during the fest, taking place on September 1st and 2nd. Steve Stoute is also set to produce the film alongside Jay.
“The festival showcases 20 pre-eminent artists that speak to the new generation. I am producing the film with Steve Stoute and Jay. Ron is directing. It is going to be born through Jay-Z’s perspective… how he puts the event together,” said Grazer. “Jay stayed the king for a very long time… I can’t even begin to explain how he is capable of remaining relevant. He is a phenom, like a musical Michael Jordan.”

I think alot of people have criticized Jay for not adding anything new to music and having very little substance in his art recently. I’ve noticed in the past 18 months he’s desperately try to be seen as that guy who’s still musically gifted. Jay asked Kayne to do a double album since Kanye did complete his greatest album MBDTF and he’s probably not going to top that. Jay on the other hand just finished making the worst trilogy ever (blueprint classic, the gift and the curse full of fillers and blueprint 3 is trash and should be considered a pop album. Some of the choruses were cringe-worthy). Doing Watch The Throne (majority of the album was good but im pretty sure Otis Redding will be spinning in his grave if he heard Otis), music festivals and working with Ron Howard are desperate attempts to try and persuade people that his still doing this for the art. I dont think he should of stayed retired because he’s still capable of making good albums (AG and Kindgom Come gets alot of hate for an album which isnt that bad.) But stop making trash music thats radio friendly and get creative.
Blueprint 3 wasn’t a bad album. maybe it had a more pop-oriented sound that put off a lot of fans but in and of itself i thought it was a pretty decent album.
