Jamie Foxx Talks Album, New Movies

Last week week, Mary J. Blige, Biggie and Jamie Foxx released albums, and Jamie’s excited about both of them. The singer/actor voiced his hopes about emerging with the number one position in the sales department and noted that a little competition isn’t always a negative thing.

“That’s all healthy,” Foxx told MTV. “When you look at three African-Americans who are really at the top of their careers, it’s great to see not that just [all the albums] are out, but it’s all winning. But I wanna sell as many records as I can. I wanna go quadruple-platinum. It’s great company. At the same time, we wanna win. We wanna say, ‘Yo, man, all that heat came out and we still rose to the top.’ “

For fans who hope Jamie isn’t losing his touch in movies, a line-up of future projects looks promising. Up first are big-budget films with some famous faces. He and Beyonce teamed up with Danny Glover and Eddie Murphy to make Dreamgirls. The film is based on a Broadway musical and shows the rise and crossover of an all black female singing sensation in the early 1960’s. Others involved with the project include Mos Def and Keith Sweat.

Another film that has fans buzzing is Miami Vice. Foxx and Colin Farrel will take on the roles of detectives James Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs.

“Nuts!” is the best way Foxx could describe the film after witnessing fans go wild during a viewing of the trailer.

“When I tell you ‘Miami Vice’ is nuts … they played the trailer before ‘King Kong’ and people were yelling at the screen,” he told MTV.

His highly anticipated album has a long list of guest stars. Ludacris, Twista, Game and Snoop Dogg all show up throughout the new LP. G.O.O.D Music representatives Common and Kanye West also appear.. The album Unpredicatble is currently in stores.
