“Luther is one of our G.O.A.T.s,” Foxx said in a statement. “He’s one of the greatest singers in the history of music. It is truly an honor to be a part of the team to help bring this incredible story to the masses.”

“Like so many, I have always loved Luther’s music, but I had no idea of the breadth and scope of his artistry,” said Porter, according to the outlet. “I think people will be surprised at how much he accomplished in his tragically short life. It is a joy to be able to share his true story.”

There is also a biopic in the works based on Vandross’ only biographical book, Luther: The Life and Longing of Luther Vandross, which was written by veteran music journalist Craig Seymour.

Luther Vandross was one of the greatest R&B singers in music history. The eight-time Grammy Award winner is best known for his iconic records such as, “Never Too Much,” “Here and Now,” and “Dance With My Father.” His music has been sampled throughout Hip Hop, most famously by Kanye West and Twista on 2004’s “Slow Jamz.”

West sampled Vandross’ 1981 ballad, “A House Is Not A Home” for the production of the song while Jamie Foxx handled the chorus-singing duties.

“She said she want some Marvin Gaye, some Luther Vandross/ A little Anita will definitely set this party off right/ (Are you gonna be, are you gonna be, are you gonna be Are you gonna be, are you gonna be, well, well, well, well)/ She said she want some Ready for the World, some New Edition/ Some Minnie Riperton will definitely set this party off right,” Foxx sings.

Vandross passed away in 2005 at the age of 54 after suffering a heart attack, stemming from diabetes and hypertension.

Meanwhile, Google seems to not be able to tell celebrities apart from each other because recently Master P and the late singer were mixed up on the popular search engine.

One of those who came across the blunder was Questlove, who previously posted a screenshot of it to his Instagram page.

“This is why humans aren’t replaceable [unimpressed face emoji],” he wrote as the caption, referencing the recent rise of artificial intelligence (AI).

P later came out and called out Google for the mix-up while promoting himself in the process.

“I know everybody trippin’, and Google thought it was funny, mixing me up — I get it,” he told TMZ previously. “Stop letting AI run your company. This is the picture — Captain Ace [the mascot for Snoop cereal, a joint venture Master P shares with Snoop Dogg] — I look more like Captain Ace. I just wonder what they would put for Harvey [Levin, the founder of TMZ]. Bruce Willis?”

In addition, Jamie Foxx made his first public appearance on Sunday (July 9) after struggling with health issues that had his friends and fans worried for months.

The actor, comedian and singer posted on Twitter for the first time in almost four months. “Boat life [fox emoji] Celebrating summer with @brownsugarbbn [Brown Sugar Bourbon] Stay blessed!” he wrote.

TMZ obtained footage of the 55-year-old entertainer waving at a crowd from his yacht as they cheered him on. The video was taken on the Chicago River on the same day as the above tweet.
