Jamie Foxx has credited his “courageous” sister with saving his life during his recent undisclosed health scare.
On Tuesday (August 1), the actor took to Instagram to praise his younger sister Deidra Dixon in honor of her birthday and posted a carousel of the playful siblings together, including a slide with his other sister DeOndra Dixon, who passed away in 2020.

“Happy birthday to my beautiful for sister @frequency11,” Foxx wrote. “‘D’… you are magical you are beautiful you are the courageous lionesses #leoseason. And without you I would not be here… had you not made the decisions that you made I would’ve lost my life…. I love you forever and ever happy birthday sis #swipeleft.”

The post from Foxx was the actor’s first since July 22, when he appeared on camera for the first time since he was hospitalized for a mystery health issue back in April. In that clip, he also thanked his sister, as well as daughter Corrine, for their “protection” during such a difficult time.
“To be honest with you, my sister Deidra Dixon, my daughter Corinne Marie saved my life,” Foxx said in the video, in which he said he wanted fans to see him laughing, having fun and partying and not with “tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”
He continued: “I cannot tell you how great it feels to have your family kick in in such a way, they kept it airtight, didn’t let nothing out. They protected me, and that’s what I hope everyone can have in moments like these.”
Following weeks of hospitalization and receiving encouragement from friends and fans alike, Foxx had previously taken to Instagram in May to express his gratitude for all the support. “Appreciate all the love!!! Feeling blessed,” he wrote in the social media post.
By mid-May, the “Blame It” singer had been discharged from the hospital and had entered the top physical rehabilitation centers in the country.

Both of his daughters were pictured visiting him at the Chicago-based rehab center over Mother’s Day weekend. There is still little information about what exactly happened to Foxx, but the facility he was in reportedly specializes in stroke recovery, traumatic brain injury rehab, spinal cord injury rehab and cancer rehabilitation.
Foxx’s new Netflix film They Cloned Tyrone was released on July 21.
