Jacquees has been arrested for simple battery and obstruction, and his mugshot has gone viral after word spread about the self-proclaimed King of R&B’s latest legal drama.

Arrest records obtained by HipHopDX from the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office reveal that the “You” singer was booked on Friday (June 23). The charges were simple battery and willful obstruction of law enforcement officers, both of which are misdemeanors in the state of Georgia.

While the details of the events that prompted the arrest are unclear, what is clear is that Jacquees (real name Rodriquez Jacquees Broadnax) was released about seven hours after he was arrested after posting a cash bond totaling $40.

What’s more, his mugshot reveals that the singer suffered a swollen lip and what appears to be a blackened eye, but it isn’t clear who the perpetrator of these injuries was. Check out the details of his arrest below.

This isn’t the first time that Jacquees being arrested has made headlines. Back in 2018, he was arrested in Miami’s South Beach neighborhood after police said he refused to pull over while driving his black Lamborghini.

Jacquees was instructed to pull over after an officer saids he noticed the 23-year-old wasn’t wearing his seatbelt.

“The defendant did not obey my command and instead kept driving the vehicle at a low rate of speed with heavy traffic still northbound on Ocean Drive,” the arresting officer wrote in his report. “He was then asked again to pull over and to provide me with his driver’s license. The defendant once again refused to obey a lawful command from this officer.”

After pulling over, Jacquees — a native of Georgia — was asked to move to the sidewalk but police said he refused. Subsequently, large crowds of onlookers gathered and the arresting officer called for backup.

“Additional officers had to be requested in emergency mode due to the large crowd gathering and the defendant still not complying.”

Jacquees was later taken into custody and charged with failure to obey an officer and disorderly conduct. “It should be noted that the defendant’s actions disrupted the peace and quiet and public morals of bystanders on a busy spring break day on ocean drive in Miami Beach,” the report concluded.
