J. Cole, The Roots, Jill Scott and Ne-Yo are among the artists who will be performing at Philly 4th of July Jam at the Philadelphia Museum of Art (PMA) July 4. The concert is free and will also feature John Mayer, among others.
“The City of Philadelphia is proud to welcome an incredibly talented group of musicians to our city this Fourth of July,” Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter said in a statement. “We know that Philadelphia is the foremost place to celebrate our nation’s birthday.”
Philadelphia served as the United State’s capital while Washington, D.C. was under construction during the Revolutionary War.
The Philly 4th of July Jam is part of the Wawa Welcome America! festival. Last year, Common, Lauryn Hill, Queen Latifah, DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Roots performed at the event, which takes place in front of the PMA prior to the festival’s fireworks finale.

Cole, Kendrick, AND Drake are the leaders of the new school.
If your only hit is done by sampling Paula Abdul, hip hop’s future is bleak if you consider J. Cole a leader.
