While Hip Hop fans await J. Cole’s debut, Cole World: The Sideline Story, the North Carolina rapper has been busy on tour.
“I felt like they had me on the road too much,” said Cole in an interview with Billboard.com.”I was getting frustrated because they didn’t have me in the studio as much as other artists. I was working every chance I could, but I was also on the road so much.”
Cole explained that Jay-Z changed his opinion of touring. “But Jay said, ‘you need to be on the road, because that’s when you’re going to get the best material. Just living and being on tour, experiencing all these different cities and seeing what works.’ And he’s right, that’s how ‘The Blow Up’ came [about].”
J. Cole has been the opener for Rihanna’s “Loud” tour, a spot previously held by Cee-Lo, who had to give it up due to other obligations. “It’s amazing. Every night I’m performing in front of a ton of people who’ve never heard of me and have the opportunity to win a lot of people over.”
And, as rumors heat up about Jay-Z and Kanye’s Watch the Throne, Cole could offer little more than, “I don’t know a date, but I asked him [Jay-Z] how it was and he just had that look on his face like it was fucking crazy.”
J. Cole’s Cole World: The Sideline Story is due in stores September 27.

He does not need to come out with the The Blow Up or any other mixtape because he is going to go come out with his album Cole World: The Sideline Story on September 27. Plus he also has his collaboration mixtape with Kendrick Lamar which going to be coming out. He was did the video for his single Workout so it forsure coming out.He was already on the his Light Dreams and Nightmares with Drake,now the Loud Tour with Rihanna and soon he will join Tinie Tempah on his 7-city Arena Tour. So he way of Kendrick Lamar right now.
you see what the guy said above me. Thats the general consensus I get from the public right now. Its going to take more than a tour to get ‘anticipation’ for an album. you cannot be successful in this environment without anticipation. If Cole doesn’t stay relevant with note worthy new material for the next 3 months Sept. 27 will have came and went and there wont be any looking back. Cole World needs a heat check and its going to be alot of finger pointing when he sells 50-100k the first week. Cole is not Dr.Dre you cant come out wit one project every year and expect people to turn out like they did the last time. Cole has been touring like crazy I know that, it seem like he’s booked every month where im at but I been on Cole since the day before Warm Up dropped so I’m rootin for him but I dont feel hype rite now. It was actually confusing to me when i heard about the release date. But I’m not his manager. We’ll see how all this touring works out for him.
