J. Cole Performed New York City Show For One Dollar Tickets

    J. Cole treated fans to a weekend concert fit for any budget. The “Dollar and a Dream” show hit Roseland Ballroom in New York City Saturday night, with tickets costing only a buck.

Cole lit up the stage with rookie energy, but fans cheered him on like he’s already a veteran.

As he performed tracks spanning The Warm Up   to The Sideline Story, the crowd recited his lyrics right back at him. During his encore, he gave a shout out to everything fans threw up, from St. John’s sweaters to Yankee fitteds. He threw up the Roc-A-Fella Records/Roc Nation sign before the lights went down, causing a sea of diamonds in the audience.

Hip Hop’s freshman and fans alike are clearly celebrating the release of his first album, The Sideline Story, in stores Tuesday.

Watch performance clips of “God’s Gift/Mr. Nice Watch” and “Grown Simba” below.

Youre out of your damn mind if you think Cole is gonna sell more than Take Care. And im a huge fan of both. Im buying coles album tomorrow. But lets face the facts. Cole is essentially an underground artist with an album coming out. he still hasnt broken mainstream yet. And i hate saying that but its true. Friday Night Lights was the shit but it had nowhere near the impact that So Far Gone had.

      2. Soulja boys first album went platinum and was a huge commercial success numbers wise

Jayzs reasonable doubt sold less than 80k its first week and Nas Illmatic sold less than 75k its first week. Both are heralded as hip hop classics.

fuck outa here with that numbers bullshit

    1. damn they made it seem like him doin a show only for a dollar was a bad thing. It actually makes sense. The title “dollar and a dream” and its an easy way to get more people to come see you so they can see what you have to offer then maybe buy the album

    2. Just Recieved Cole World in uk….. 16 tracks not 19!?!? apparently the others are itunes (US) exclusives……. so i’m downloading the on frostwire!
