Is Cassidy Ready To Return Behind Bars?

In 2006 Full Surface/J Records artist Cassidy served over a year in prison and survived a car accident that left him in critical condition. In 2007 he’s ready to take his fans behind bars. Cassidy, whose government name is Barry Reese, will release his third album, The Barry Adrien Reese Story (B.A.R.S.) on September 18. While Cassidy plans to address more serious subject matter, he wants fans to be clear about the album’s direction.

In a recent interview with Billboard Magazine Cassidy said, “It’s not church music–it’s just street songs.” As proof the first single will be the Swizz Beatz produced, “It’s On (I Got My Drink and My Two Step).” As usual, Swizz Beatz will be on board for production work along with Timbaland, Neo Da Matrix, Scott Storch and Cool and Dre. The album also features guest spots from John Legend, Fabolous, Beanie Sigel, Eve and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.

In the meantime, Cassidy has been keeping busy by dabbling in fashion and music production. The single “Cash Rules” will feature Cassidy’s first production credit, and Lot 29 has also enlisted him as the face of their Fall 2007 campaign. For fans who can’t wait for B.A.R.S. to be released, Cassidy and DJ Green Lantern will release a mixtape featuring seven exclusive songs from the album on Cassidy’s birthday, July 7.
