iLoveMakonnen Reveals He’s Gay

Atlanta-based musician iLoveMakonnen came out as a gay man in a handful of tweets sent in the early hours of Friday (January 20).

Although the self-proclaimed “fashion icon” has remained relatively silent on his sexuality, he referred to his reveal as “old news.”

“Someone said to me next time they see me, they was gonna fuck me , I said next time I see me, I’m gonna love me up…As a fashion icon, I can’t tell u about everybody else’s closet, I can only tell u about mine, and it’s time I’ve come out…And since y’all love breaking news, here’s some old news to break, I’m gay. And now I’ve told u about my life, maybe u can go life yours,” iLoveMakonnen wrote across three separate tweets.

He also shared the news on Instagram, sharing a screen capture of his tweets, and channeling Sly & The Family Stone for the caption: “Thank you for letting me be myself.”

iLoveMakonnen’s revelation comes months after the former OVO Sound affiliate announced his retirement from rap. In May of last year, he chucked the deuces to the genre after saying the “Rap game Wack.”

Additionally, iLoveMakonnen’s announcement follows news of Chance The Rapper’s brother, Taylor Bennett, discussing his sexuality online and coming out as bisexual.

    1. Born in 1980. I’m a 90’s hip hop kid. I don’t hate change, and I respect someone to be who they want. With that said, the ‘rap game’ is fucking garbage currently. This guy was a joke from the beginning. The fact he ‘made’ it is embarrassing for the culture. Thanks for new true mc’s like Kendrick and westside gunn for helping bars come back. Now all you need is red dreads and tight jeans to become ‘famous’.

      1. LOL!…. Ya alright, alright, alright, You was right I was wrong, Ya I should’ve never ever took [HIM] home, Ya I should’ve just boned…

    2. ummm i’m sorry but who didn’t know this from like the very beginning since his introduction in music. Also I always wondered what Gays would say if judgement day was around the corner and its your turn to be judged in front of the most high like what would be a typical gay response be like “My bad I didn’t know” or “I thought it was just a book” or “I thought u weren’t real”. Just curious

      1. So wait what’s the difference between a major pillow biter and a minor pillow biter? Is like major/Minor league baseball?

        1. Dude hella gay hip hop artist cant name em all here but there takin iver with there shitty rhymes and over saturated social media presence we should make rule where we wont even acknowlede you unless you dropped a full album already im so sick of these internet clowns with one super gimmicky song thay no one listens to a month after it came out and now there like famous and shit and never put out anything with substance (classic material) the list is staggering. This new generation can suck a diiick! (no homo)

      1. I know what u mean but in this type of climate you have to be specific so barbers do hair you probably should say what straight nigga do women’s hair

        1. A barber doesn’t “do” a man’s hair, he cuts it. No man says I’m getting my hair did, unless………

    3. Not surprised one bit. Dude was doing hair in Atlanta before getting on. His whole vibe comes across as gay, not to say that there is something wrong with it btw, but who cares? Time to move on. Good for click bait and fodder for the comment section. It’s 2017 folks.

    4. This isn’t news, this dude has had flames ? soaring behind him since he first tried forcing his music on us

    5. I don’t understand how a nigga can be gay in Atlanta surrounded by all those beautiful black princesses. I wont ever listen to this gay nigga music again. Flame boy! ugh.

    6. Dweb dont know body give a damn about you suckin’ sausage. It ain’t like you was taking thots from niggas anyway.

    7. U want to know how I know ur gay because u listen to this gay ass shit call ilovemakonnen most of these rappers now of days are gay they mumble now because they got the industry dicks in their mouths

      1. I don’t think so. Rap is pretty trash. Rappers are pretty useless, not to mention low IQ. Black community is basically a big embarrassment due to this Neanderthal mentality which permeates it.

        1. I don’t think all rappers have low IQs. Actually, most of them probably don’t. They’re just passionate about their craft, and just because you don’t like how most rap sounds, or what most rappers say, doesn’t constitute a low IQ in a rapper. Also, you can’t group the whole Black community together just because you think rap music has a huge influence over us. Don’t associate everything you see in the media with the whole Black community. Black people aren’t the only people who listen to rap; BLACK PEOPLE aren’t the only people who rap. So, you can shut that ignorant noise down.

    8. What a shocker. Didnt see that coming. But seriously now, the only coming out less suprising than this one will be drake’s.
