Ill Bill spoke to Conspiracy Radio on Sunday about his upcoming album, Heavy Metal Kings. The effort will be one of many in his extensive catalogue, including his work as a member of Non Phixion as well as collaboration albums he has completed. The title of his latest may raise some eyebrows, as Ill Bill is known for being involved in Hip Hop, and not Metal.
“People have made the assumption that [the album is] going to be like a lot of Heavy Metal guitar beats and it’s going to sound like a Rock album. Off the bat, I’ll let ya’ll know that’s not the case. It’s a one-hundred percent Hip Hop album.”
Ill Bill explained that while he does hold an affinity for Heavy Metal music, the name actually comes from a record he did with Jedi Mind Tricks.
“The title comes from…the song called “Heavy Metal Kings” that I did with Jedi Mind Tricks. And that was really where it started as far as that being the name of the group. Where it comes from, it’s obviously a play on words.”
The album is close to being done, and although Ill Bill said that he has no exact date for its release, it may see shelves in March of 2011.
a real fan woulda known and assumed this shit already. i heard heavy metal kings and was stoked on the project being that it was their first record together as a duo and it thumped. it is a classic record.
i assumed they was goin to try and capture some of that creative genius again. being that they so compatible together on the mic. all the tracks they done together have been banger status. check “a bullet never lies” for proof.
heavy metal kings a rock album fuck outta here, that is not what should have been thought by fans with actual brains. i could see it somewhat casue of the rock remixes always on his shit. and the rock remix of that track heavy metal kings. but that woulda been a disappointment, fans shoulda already known bill and paz collabo album woulda been full of that hip hop heat rocks shit. anything less as a collaborative album woulda been weak
im wit you on that bro, the record is a classic, bill and paz will not dissapoint, but i am still hoping for at least one or two heavy metal type tracks, both vin and ill do love metal, and they way they intergrate it into hip hop is amazing, and goes along great with there styles, i just saw jedi mind live and vinny did his verse from heavy metal kings, and the entire place went off, but people do get it fucked up cuz of a name, of a song and think to basic, when there is nothing simple about theses artist,
Heavy metal, in this case, equals guns. So they’re saying they’re masters of gunplay or some such nonsense, right? Quick question: Have any of these guys had ANY history with guns (not counting a.) holding up unloaded weapons in YouTube videos b.) paintball c.) water pistols)?
I cant wait for this record!!!
I love Jedi Mind Tricks Vinnie Paz is one of the greatest ever if he is at all influencing this album I will be all over it.
Honestly just saw the tittle i’m thinking hard raps in a classical sense of the word. I mean if you half gay listening to half gay new age rappers you might think he’s going slightly left field. how do people say that NY ra is dead when that album with dj muggs is a monsta!!
I’m sure the album will be dope
I listened to the Podcast on sunday, and Bill said the album had beats from DJ Muggs and Sicknature, as well as some unknown cats
Happy bout Muggs no doubt, sad to hear no mention of Stoupe…… My Idol Production Line Up for this would have been Muggs and Stoupe goin 50%-50% on it
this ima be listening to. real rap. ill bill never disappoints and has more lyrical range than his brother necro who i also dig. his material with dj muggs is off the chain and gets respect from me. not lil fuckin gayne and his wretched sort.
