IFPI Releases 2008’s Top-Selling International Albums

    Lil Wayne‘s Tha Carter III [click to read] was the sole Hip Hop album to make it onto the list of top selling international albums for 2008. Comprised of 20 albums, the list was created by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). The IFPI includes in its report album sales from across the globe.

    Although Tha Carter III  was only able to make it to the number nine spot on the IFPI‘s list, Lil Wayne‘s album topped many charts and even won a Grammy award for Best Rap Album [click to read].

    With close to three million albums sold in the United States before the start of the New Year, Tha Carter III became one of 2008’s highest-selling albums.

    “Thank you, that’s it,” Lil Wayne told MTV back in June when Tha Carter III sold a million records its first week. “[I’m] just very grateful, that’s it. Blown away, of course. Surprised, of course. Elated. Every positive word there is. I wasn’t trippin’ about this. I didn’t have no expectations. That’s not only with music, [that’s] period. You shouldn’t expect anything. You never know what could happen.”
