Los Angeles, CA

J. Cole recently came to a fan’s rescue after his card was declined while trying to buy food after work.

Instagram user @thatoneguyrandom.100 revealed Cole happened to be in the same place at the same time, and stepped in to pay for his order in Los Angeles on Friday (June 17). Following the gesture, he took a selfie with the rapper, who held up his iPhone with one of Drake’s new songs “Overdrive” being played on Apple Music.

“so I went to get some food after work, my card declined.” the fan wrote in the caption. “next thing I know j cole pays for it. wooooow.”

Replying to someone in the comments who didn’t know who J. Cole was, he said, “he’s so real! And he’s one of the best rappers to ever touch the mic.”

J. Cole also took to his Instagram Stories on Friday to praise Drake’s new album Honestly, Nevermind, which was released that day.

“Man. This album is phenomenal. Point blank,” he wrote alongside a screenshot of “Liability” playing.

J. Cole is no stranger to doing big gestures for his fans. In May, he attended a fan’s college graduation after previously attending her high school graduation, following a letter she wrote to him in 2013.

“In the letter it says all I went through,” she told Complex in 2015. “With being adopted, my parents being hooked on drugs, in and out of prison. At the time both parents were in prison so I asked him could he come to my graduation since they can’t.”

She added, “That man has done so much for me. He planned his tour around my day. I could never thank him enough. He’s God’s gift. Every night I prayed for this day and it really came. I did it. He told us all his struggles through music and I seen how far he made it. Now it’s my turn. I gotta keep making Cole proud.”
