Wu-Tang Clan Celebrate 25th Anniversary Of ‘Wu-Tang Forever’ With Special Edition Vinyl

Wu-Tang Clan’s iconic sophomore effort Wu-Tang Forever is getting a vinyl revamp in honor of its 25th anniversary.

The legendary double project will be commemorated with a special vinyl pressing that includes a lyrical booklet, a silver-colored 7-inch single of “Triumph” with “Heaterz” as the B-side, and a reissue of the album’s double cassette in a slipcase.

Additionally, Wu-Tang also revealed they’ll be dropping a new video interview from 1997’s “Triumph” video shoot to further celebrate the occasion. They also announced Wu-Niverse, a series of short documentaries that focus on the some of the group’s biggest fans and examines their deep love of all things Wu-Tang.

Wu-Tang Forever dropped on June 3, 1997, and arrived after the group had dispersed to work on various solo efforts. The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) follow-up was a commercial juggernaut, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and moving 612,000 copies in its first week. It was also nominated for Best Rap Album at the 40th annual Grammy Awards.

In other news, Wu-Tang will soon be linking up with Nas for the N.Y. State of Mind Tour this fall. The 25-date trek will kick off in St. Louis, Missouri on August 30 and wraps up in Los Angeles, California on October 4. The rap legends will also stop in other cities such as Toronto, Atlanta and Houston.

Nas and Wu-Tang’s history runs deep. In a clip from Wu-Tang Clan’s 2019 Showtime documentary series Of Mics and Men, the Illmatic lyricist recalled how he met them when he was just a teen, and watched them rise to the rap icons they are today.

“I had met RZA when he was a solo artist and when I was hearing about Wu-Tang, I kept hearing about these dudes, they were coming to places, tearing shit up everywhere they went,” he said. “I remember being around Wu and I’m like, ‘Damn, they just like us.’

“It was like cousins, almost. It was like, you know, project kids. We felt it, we smelt it off each other, and it just shows you that out of those housing projects come some brilliant people.”

      1. No still only on the European version bonus tracks with Projects Remix. Sucks they never released it in US but the beat was playing on The RZA’s Chamber video of the Enhanced CD. The Sunshower beat was sickness in ’97. Before the Digi.

    1. i have somewhere a wu tang dvd what is the name of that track they in the music video are in an orphanage.

    2. cool but two tracks already on the album on a bonus 7″ what’s the point of that when they coulda used the 7 or even a a 5th LP with DIESEL, SUNSHOWER, and some other rare, unreleased and alternates. missed opportunity.

    3. Seriously who cares? This sophomore album is not that good to deserve a special anniversary. It sounds very bad even after 25 years. Maybe four or five tracks were decent on this double cd.

      1. Many people care. Those who value real hiphop care. The people who battled in ciphers on the block and during lunch at high school care. This generation of softness, distortion of what is really hiphop, lack of real technical lyrical acuity and disrespect is disappointing.

        1. Nah you make it look like this album was huge for the movement but it was not. It was a hell of a disappointment. The Wu-Tang is one of the best rap group who ever did it but you gotta be honest here: when this album dropped, many people were expecting something as good as their first album or even better. But the Wu didn’t fill the expectation. And 25 years after, nobody is refering to this album as one of Wu’s classics. True story. Don’t twist the reality to make a point. Like I said: beside four or five tracks, this album sucks.

          1. That’s not how most fans view this album now – maybe some didn’t expect this album when it dropped in ’97, but it has aged as well if not better than 36 chambers. There’s only a couple of duds towards the end of disc 2, but the rest is so strong that it is irrelevant.

          2. Wu fans do not view this album that way – maybe some did not this expect this album when it dropped in ’97, but it has aged to be as good if not better than 36 chambers. There might be a couple of duds towards the end of disc 2, but the rest is so strong that it is irrelevant.

    4. Monumental album. Everything about this album is classic. MGM with rae and ghost switching off, Visionz with Deck producing the track, Wu-Elements producers True Master and 4th Disciple producing, GZA and True Master dropping knowledge, Meth with the flows, Cappadonna in the right places, this album was more striped down in production and minimal. I feel like out of all the Wu albums this is the one with the most knowledge or more themes. I’m a fan of it. Have been listening to this since at least 04 tbh. I feel like the people hating on this want one part of the wu sound and want to hear that rowdy buckwild Ruckus shit, like stay with 36 Chambers, shitting on it is like why? Wu is a vibe, you just kinda like listen to em. Go buy benzino albums
