2022 has been another banner year for Mary J. Blige. After performing during the Super Bowl halftime show, filming Season 2 of Power Book III: Raising Kanan and releasing her Good Morning Beautiful album, MJB picked up another accolade to add to her decorated career resume this week.
The Yonkers native was commemorated with her own day in Atlanta through the Strength of a Woman Day — named after her 2017 album. The honor comes ahead of her Strength of a Woman Festival & Summit, which is taking place in the ATL this Mother’s Day weekend.

The Queen of Hip Hop Soul was showered with love at a celebration Thursday night (May 5) where she was presented with the honor by Atlanta councilwoman Keisha Sean Waites with stars such as 2 Chainz in the building.
Mary J. Blige will hit the State Farm Arena stage on Saturday night (May 7) and prior to her performance, the summit will hold workshops looking to empower, educate and elevate women of color.
Tickets are still available over at Ticketmaster. The City Girls, Chaka Khan, Baby Tate and more artists are slated to perform throughout the event.
The awards and accolades will continue to pour in throughout the rest of 2022. Mary J. is set to also receive the Icon Award at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, where mentor Diddy will be playing host for the May 15 show on NBC.
