The younger brother of Young Chop, Johnny May Cash, was fatally shot in the Chicago area on Easter Sunday (April 17) supposedly over a viral video of him assaulting a woman. Now, there’s evidence to support that theory that at least paints a picture of his violent tendencies toward the opposite sex.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, a woman claiming to be Cash’s girlfriend admitted to shooting the rapper, but she says it was self-defense. While in custody, 28-year-old Brianna Gibbs told police she feared for her safety following a dispute with Cash that day in which he pulled out a chunk of her hair.
Following a brief struggle, Cash’s gun reportedly fell to the floor prompting her to pick it up as she ran out of the house. But she says he “aggressively” came after her, so she pulled the trigger multiple times. Gibbs fled to her aunt’s house before being transported to a local hospital where she was treated for bruises on her legs and chest and a split lip that required stitches.
Judge Susana Ortiz set her bail at $100,000 and ordered her back to court on May 9. Two weeks prior to the shooting, Gibbs had called police seeking help obtaining her belongings from Cash’s home.

Gibbs is reportedly the same woman who appears in the graphic video that went viral in January. In the clip, Cash is seen punching Gibbs and slamming her body into a wall “with such force that plaster can be seen falling in front of the camera.
The 27-year-old also faced domestic violence charges in 2015 and 2017 involving other women, but both cases were later dropped by prosecutors.
