As reported by Billboard, Cardi will star as Sharki B on the animated preschool show, while her 3-year-old daughter will be Kulture Shark, and her husband Offset will simply be Offshark.
“[Sharki B] is the biggest star in the seven seas – flashy, awe-inspiring and ruthlessly fun – but always 100% herself and fin-spires other fishies to do the same,” it reads in a press release.
The episode will follow Baby Shark and his buddy William as they meet Sharki B and are taught her signature dance “The Seaweed Sway.” Before the episode airs, “The Seaweed Sway” will appear on the cartoon’s compilation soundtrack Sing, Dance & Sway the Nick Jr. Way when it hits streaming on April 8.
The episode was announced on Thursday (March 24) by Brian Robbins, who’s the president and CEO of Paramount Pictures & Nickelodeon and chief content officer of movies and kids & family for Paramount+.
The Cardi and Baby Shark link up comes as no surprise considering how vocal the New York rapper has been about the hit song that spawned the show. She’s often supported the series on social media, posting an Instagram video in January 2019 of her doing a runway walk to the hit song. She previously claimed on Twitter that Kulture loved “the whole Baby Shark mixtape.”
