NBA YoungBoy will be heading back to court to stand trial in his 2020 weapons case on May 16 where he’ll face up to seven years behind bars, but his legal team is maintaining supreme confidence their client will be exonerated, according to Rolling Stone.

“We’re 100 percent convinced of his innocence, and now we have to continue to evaluate our strategy,” YB’s attorney Drew Findling relayed to Rolling Stone. “The unconstitutionality of law enforcement was clearly evident to the court and resulted in a slew of evidence of being thrown out. We’re looking forward to going to court.”

YoungBoy Never Broke Again — born Kentrell Gaulden — breathed a huge sigh of relief when he notched a legal victory at a February 24 hearing after a judge threw out a large sum of video footage that could’ve been incriminating because of a faulty warrant executed by Baton Rouge police.

Findling added of the ruling, “It’s always significant to have a motion to suppress granted in whole or in part, and anytime you succeed in the federal system, that type of victory is magnified to an even a greater degree.”

On September 28, 2020, YoungBoy was arrested outside of his grandfather’s home in Baton Rouge during a video shoot when police received an anonymous tip regarding weapons being exposed outdoors.

U.S. District Court Chief Judge Shelly Dick dismissed the tapes found on memory cards of YB’s videographer showing him brandishing a weapon.

“The whole truth would have included that the tip about the rap video came in on September 27 — not September 28 — which would have negated probable cause to search the SD cards and camera for evidence of who possessed firearms or narcotics on September 28,” the judge wrote.
