Longtime Aftermath Collaborator Focus… Calls The Game ‘Unstable’ Over Dr. Dre Comments

The Game interview with REVOLT’s Drink Champs podcast hasn’t even been released yet and it’s already stirring the pot. On Monday (February 28), Drink Champs shared a teaser of the conversation to its Instagram account and at one point in the clip, the Compton-bred rapper claimed Kanye West did more for him in two weeks than Dr. Dre did for his entire career.

Longtime Dre collaborator and seasoned producer Focus…apparently can’t wrap his head around why Game would say something like that. After all, Game got his start with Aftermath Entertainment in 2003 and delivered a double-platinum album called The Documentary right out the gate (which included contributions from Kanye).

Hopping in the comment section of a Diverse Mentality Instagram post, Focus… wrote, “Really???,” clearly baffled by the revelation. When someone commented, “And this is why he wasn’t at the super bowl,” Focus…replied, “EXACTLY! Cant depend on an unstable cat for something as epic as that.”

JAY-Z and The Game’s relationship was catapulted into the spotlight last week after people mistakenly thought Wack 100 said Game told JAY-Z to “suck his dick” just “18 hours ago,” when he really said, “18 albums ago.”

Wack 100 later clarified his statements on HipHopDX‘s Instagram post, writing in all caps, “I NEVER SAID THIS I NEVER SAID HE SAID THIS ABOUT THE SUPER BOWL — STOP TWISTING SHIT – SAY WHAT REAL MISS US WITH THE FAKE SHIT. I ADDRESSED AN OLD SONG OF 10 YEARS – NOBODY NEVER SAID THE GAME MADE THIS.”

The Game Firmly Sets The Record Straight On Wack 100's JAY-Z 'Suck My Dick' Clubhouse Comment

Game also came through with a statement of his own and denied ever having a conversation with JAY-Z prior to Super Bowl LVI.

“I control my own narrative,” he wrote in an Instagram post. “Do not be fooled by the internet, blogs, podcasts or anyone speaking on my name that is not me. My life & new album are both amazing & I’m in a great space creatively & artistically. I’m in Miami to help Ye’ finish Donda 2 & support my friend in one of the most pivotal times of his life/career.”

He continued, “Leave me & my name out of any NEGATIVE conversations unless I have given you a REAL reason to include me !!! Hov’ continues to break down doors for the culture & I am in full support of anything & anyone who is on the help side of urban greatness.”

The full Drink Champs interview with The Game is scheduled to arrive via REVOLT on Thursday (March 3), while it be published on YouTube Saturday (March 5).

    1. Kanye has 10 no.1 albums to date! Dre has been in the game longer than kanye and STILL doesn’t have a no.1 album. Rozay has 5 no.1 albums and dre STILL doesn’t have a no.1 album. Lol!

      1. And yet Dre is still the greatest producer in Hip-Hop. Pioneered every era of Hip-Hop and his sound has developed and evolved each time, all the way from N.W.A.,
Deathrow to the Aftermath era. Has a whole coast still emulating a sound he created 20 years ago. Dre >>> over Kanye in every facet. You’re also wrong both Dre’s Chronic and 2001 albums have gone “no.1”. Popularity and quality are NOT synonymous.

        1. People emulating his style created damn near 35 years!!! Think about it, Boyz n the Hood by Eazy was from 1987 or 88!!! Dre been a beast in 5 different decades! He probably missed out on number one records because of the bias/Hate that came from the East coast, no NYC DJs were playing anything that came out of California, yet artists from LA and the Bay were still going platinum. It drove me nuts when our DJs would play their music on the radio

          1. Oh most definitely, G-Funk included. I was primarily referring to the Aftermath sound: dark chords, piano keys, string sections etc that Dre is known for along with Mel-Ma, Scott Storch and others. But yeah nothing but facts bro.

        2. Chronic and 2001 both definitely did not hit no.1. It’s been well known dre doesn’t write or even actually produce st least since he left death row.

Kanye is running hiphop in comparison

          1. Lol running it by what?? drumless electro sounds from daft punk or that alternative garbo sound he bring from Bon Iver
this man single handly introduce dweebs to the genre that run around with lame narratives “hes a genius, he has the best dicography, he not juste a rapper hes an artist” when in reality HipHop heads now he was just good at his peak

            1. You hit the nail on the head, you stole the words out of my mouth. Kanye’s running popularity if anything.

            2. Kanye ran out of gas when he ran out of old songs to sample. Shit is hilarious that his fans are still trying to prop up this narrative that he’s some visionary when dude is just trying to sell some records with his antics, always has. There is always a rant before an album drop. The powers that be, George Bush, Obama, stupid shit like slaves had a choice, hell, even his wife. But they try to decipher the stupid shit like it’s real life instead of understanding it’s just to get him in the news cycle while he puts out garbage music like he’s been doing the last 12 years.

      2. Snoop’s Doggystyle, 50 Cent’s Get Rich or Die Tryin, Kendrick Lamar’s Good Kid, Maad City, The Firm’s The Album, The Game’s The Documentary, Eminem’s The Slim Shady LP, The Marshall Mathers LP, The Eminem Show, Encore, and Relapse, and Busta Rhymes’ The Big Bang all debuted at number 1 or took the number 1 spot quickly and were executive produced or co-executive produced by Dre. That’s ten for you, whatever you think about those albums themselves. The numbers don’t lie. Forget about Dre as a solo artist. When Dre is engaged with an artist, he can help them hit number 1.

        1. Yeah, that’s no comparison. Dre is the greatest hip hop producer of all time by a very wide margin. That’s pretty indisputable, and I’m not even a fan of his like that. However, that spot is not in question for him.

      3. You put Rick Ross in a Dr. Dre convo? Ross may have had #1 albums but have any gone past gold? Dr. Dre only has 2 solo LPs and both are multi platinum without going #1 so that doesn’t mean much.

    2. I side with The Game on this one. Not for his allegance to Kanye. But for the way Dr. Dre handled their relation and chose 50 Cent over him. At the end of the day, The Game expected Dr. Dre to be on his side. I would have take that Super Bowl event personal too if I saw my mentor calling my enemy for the show but setting me aside after all the credit I gave to him for the last 15 years. At some point The Game felt like he was betrayed. Which he was. The Documentary is a classic. To me that album is 10x better than GRODT. I still play that album back to back like a motherfucker. Dre did a wrong move when he let The Game leave Aftermath to put all his chips on Fifty. Especially when we see how Fifty fell off after The Massacre. Maybe The Game is unstable. But this is not one of these cases where he’s acting bipolar. It looks more like a disappointment. And if Jay-Z is involved in his non participation at the Super Bowl event, then it’s on Dr. Dre. He’s grown enough to not let anyone telling him how to handle his business. FOH!

      1. Why should Dre chose Game over 50 cent? 50 made more money for Dre, 50 talk less shit about Dre and 50 is better for business then Game is. What he should chose Game just because he’s from LA? Grow up idiot! Game will never reach 50 cents level!

        1. Na not music wise don’t think the label handles the other moves ijs and not to mention gunit sunk

        2. Get over 50´s nutsack goofy! 50 Cent is fucked up musically speaking. As far as the business side, 50 is not making any money for Aftermath/Interscope w/ his tv shows! Quit being a dummy and read b/w the lines.

          1. Who said anything about 50 cents tv-shows dummy! I’m still waiting for you to say one reason why Dre should chose Game over 50 cent, dummy! Read between the lines, dummy! Little little dummy!

            1. Are you for real w/ your bullshit replies?? You’re just a waste of human skin you numbskull! I already said why The Game should have been picked over Fifty. Stop acting like a moron and use your brain cells for a change. Obviously your mom pushed you out off her anus you fuckin halfwit!

            2. So Dre should chose Game over 50 cent because Game got emotional like a little princess and left Aftermath?! HAHA who do you think gave Game his hit records like Hate it or love it and How we do, those where 50 cent records. And 50 cent was featured on Westside story, damn the documentary is actually a 50 cent record and that’s Games best and only good record HAHHAHAHAH Now sit down and SHUT UP!

      2. It’s the music BUSINESS, business-wise 50 Cent was the way smarter choice… as we can see looking at both these artists their careers.

      3. You DO know Dre’s mentored a lot of artists who also didn’t perform at the Super Bowl, right? Game’s not special, just d*ckrides Dre the hardest.

        1. So how come only one out of 29 artists who sign to aftermath actually get an album out?

Kanye west signs plenty of artists to and actually releases albums from all of them.

          1. Are you trolling are or you another person who wants to sound so knowledgeable on situations that they know nothing about but type broad statements to feel important? It’s a nice sized list of artists stranded on G.O.O.D. music too. Try Google, it’s right there on your phone.

            1. No, I got ears. Shit has been wack. Sorry you’re another Kanye dickrider that doesn’t realize his music has been meh for going on 15 years now.

            2. You got ears but you damn sure must don’t have eyes if you think my reply had anything for with dickriding kanye West. Let me guess, your mother just let you have it about keeping her basement dirty and you couldn’t get a word in edgewise so you came on here to argue and let your fingers fly on your keyboard typing baseless bullshit that has nothing to do with or contributes to the conversation. Am I on to something?

          2. It’s called quality control. Dre did come from a time when that was a thing in music. All of the shit Kanye has put out as a label boss was wack, so maybe he should have learned the concept.

    3. Nowadays everybody wanna talk like they got something to say
But nothing comes out when they move their lips
      Just a bunch of gibberish
And motherfuckers act like they forgot about Dre

    4. Welp IMO, Dre washed his hands with game after the 50 beef. Game has been serenading Dre on all his albums afterwards, but with little to no correspondence from Dre. Game has been Dre’s biggest fan. Dre is team Eminem and team 50. Eminem is white so Dre see’s him as opportunity. Game has held his own through a majority of his career. I’d say neither side is right or wrong, this is a situation of loyalty and Dre’s loyalty is NOT with Game, so Game should continue to carry his weight and stay neutral in beefs with Dre because Dre is extremely powerful and so is Jigga. Just play your cards like Chris Brown. Stfu and get the money. Do a documentary or write a book about it when you no longer give a fuck.

      1. It’s not even that. Dre barely does anything for anybody once he’s past it. He’s probably produced five Eminem songs in 15 years. He’s probably done three or four in Kendrick’s whole career. He hasn’t done shit for Snoop in years. He hasn’t done shit for 50 since that beef either. He hasn’t done shit for him since GROT. That’s how he is and always has been. People are reading into the shit too much including Game. He’s rightfully hurt because it was his hometown and then they bring out 50, but it is what it is.

        1. Haven’t done anything for 50 since Get Rich or Die Tryin? Are you slow or just felt informed typing that? Because you are wrong. You do know Dre had production on every 50 album since Get Rich, even Animal Ambition which wasn’t even on Aftermath right?

          1. Some throwaway beat shit is doing something I guess to you like what he did on GROT. You got it if that makes you feel better like the fact still doesn’t stand that Dre has not been heavily involved with anything any of these artists have done since Eminem’s comeback album like 15 years ago. People are still waiting on Detox, dope rappers like John Connor have come and gone from Aftermath, and you’re bringing up some shit probably Dre programmed the drums on as the extent of his production off 50’s wack ass albums he’s done for 15 years as that Dre was trying to push him to the top again. Like I said earlier, two extremely odd individuals with even more odd fans.

            1. He’s also helped Game in that time straight from the horse’s mouth on Documentary 2. Guess you missed that because you were breaking your back dickriding 50 Cent. Fact stands that none of that shit got Dre’s full attention that some of us who have been listening since the 80s know the difference between.

        2. I agree to what you’re saying. I’ve also always said this about Dre (what you said). But my pint was strictly in regards to game and how he should carry on.

    5. So you’re saying the Documentary album is better than GRODT? Sooooooooooo, who do you think wrote that songs you love from the Documentary??????? I bet you it’s the same guy who wrote GRODT album. Game wasn’t invited to the Super Bowl because he’s mediocre and really have no talent. He’s really salty because K Dot was invited to perform.

      1. People need to stop with this 50 wrote Game’s shit. He can barely write for himself. He wrote a couple of hooks. Game’s a better rapper. They’re both weird individuals, which is why their fan splits are some of the funniest shit ever in hip hop. Two fan bases backing to extremely odd people like they’re family members.

          1. It’s his melodies, but he hasn’t had a hot album himself since GROT. Do you people believe this shit, or is the brainwashing from being told dumb shit so embedded that you can’t even think for yourself anymore? Like I gave him what would have been another classic album for myself when I was prepping my second booboo project at the same time. Does that make sense to anyone outside of the 50 Cent dickrider universe?

            1. Sorry albums that only sold because he was the top rapper in the game at the time. Let me guess. You think those are classics, lol. Like I said, 50 Cent dickrider logic.

    6. This article is misleading. Dude didn’t he said that to Dr. Dre. He said that Game made those comments towards Jay Z “18 albums ago.” He said that’s why Jay Z didn’t have Game performing at the Super Bowl. Dizam ??‍♂️

    7. Long story short: It’s shock value to hear Game not big up Dre. Dr. Dre had a hand in Game’s major label success but after the beef with Fif, people forget that 50 is Eminem’s artist, Dre isn’t picking sides against Em, even if that means cutting ties with Game. Song for song Dre & Ye have equally contributed the same amount of music to Game’s released albums. As Drillmatic approaches with the assist on Eazy, and whatever else Kanye has helped out with in those 2 weeks as mentioned, then he wouldn’t be all the way wrong for saying Kanye’s done more for his career, IMO.

      Short story long:
2005: Game releases The Documentary on Aftermath. Dr. Dre produces 5 tracks and oversees the album as executive producer. Top songs in order Hate It Or Love It produced by Cool&Dre. How We Do produced by Dr. Dre. Dreams produced by Kanye.

2006 Doctor’s Advocate – Game is released from Aftermath and Dre moved his deal to Geffen. No other Dr. Dre production or help on this album, Kanye produced and featured on Wouldn’t Get Far.

2008 LAX – 3 years later still no sign of Dr. Dre, Kanye produced Angel ft. Common.

2011 The Red Album – Dre narrates the intro and is featured on a song, no Dre production. First Game album in 6 years with no Ye.

2012 Jesus Piece – Kanye produced and featured on the titled track. Dre produced a bonus track for the deluxe version, song didn’t even make the album.

2015 The Documentary 2 – Kanye produced and featured on Mula, one of the biggest highlights of the album. Dr. Dre & Ice Cube featured on a song was also a highlight but easily overlooked.

2022 Drillmatic (From what we know so far) – Kanye assisted Eazy produced by Hit-Boy.

      1. Hate it or love it wasn’t produced by Dr dre. It was cool & dre. That’s something you should have known since you decided to play Mr Hip Hop and submitted you dissertation.

      2. yeah but since dre stopped fn with him, his album arent even accumulate to the sales his first album had.

    8. Dre has simply moved on n wants to work wit legendary artists lyk King Tekashi. Da streets been waitin for it. Why can’t Game accept dat?

    9. THIS DUDE HAS ALWAYS BEEN UNLOYAL AND A LIABLITY TO ANYONE HE’S BEEN ASSOCIATED WITH. ALWAYS BITING THE HAND THAT FEEDS HIM AND BURNING ALL BRIDGES. NOW YOURE RUNNING WITH A VIETNAM VET NAMED WACK? LMAO N PLEASE.

    10. Bunch of the comments below are opinions. Game certainly deserved to be on the SuperBowl stage because he has a Diamond Selling Album. A good 10 rap artists ever have went diamond…

      1. Stop it. That dude don’t got nothing NEAR a diamond selling album. Where the hell you get that from? People try to throw that term around way too much when there’s no more than 5 diamond selling hip-hop albums ever. And his ain’t nowhere near the list.

      2. He doesn’t have a diamond selling album though. I think he should have been up there because it’s his hometown, and he’s one of Aftermath artists, but let’s not make shit up.

        1. The Documentary was released on January 18, 2005 and was certified double platinum after selling over 2 million units that same year, according to the Recording Industry Association of America, RIAA. Since then the album had sold over 10 million copies and received raved reviews in hip hop circles. In 2015, The Game celebrated the 10-year anniversary with a tribute album The Documentary 2 and then 2.5.

          1. Documentary didn’t sell 10 million, lol, where’d you get that from? Even if it sold 10 million worldwide, that’s still not considered diamond, my guy.

          2. Dude get the fuck out of here with that worldwide figure shit. If we’re going by that, lots of people have diamond albums. When people speak of diamond status, they’re talking about in the United States. That’s the standard and always has been. That’s why there are only a handful in music, let alone in hip hop. He went double platinum. Not to shit on him because that was good, but you’re making shit up.

    11. When Mike (Jackson) passed this fool gave an interview talking about Mike having told him not to break up ‘The Beatles’ (G-Unit)..basically begging 50 to work with him again and 50 BACK THEN pointed out that this ninja is bipolar and can’t be trusted, he’ll say one thing today and another tomorrow.

    12. ???THE GAME > fifty SNITCH???
The ONLY reason Game didn’t perform is because GÁ¥-Z from COCK-A-FELLA records is STILL BUTTHURT from Game dissing him 17 years ago!!!!??? Jay is an overhyped/mediocre rapper at best LMAO.. also, look at the history, 50 ALWAYS been jelous of Game since he blew up. Look at how 50 kept his own members from ghost unit in the dirt LOL. The story goes on and on and it gets deep, but whatever man.
It’s still BLACK WALL STREET 4 LIFE!!!!
      GGGGGG-uNOOOOOTTTTTT!!!!???

    13. THE GAME is greater than fifty SNITCH.
