King Von’s posthumous release What It Means To Be King is set to drop on Friday (March 4) and his team just revealed the project’s ominous cover art.

King Von graces the cover of the album, which was revealed on Instagram on Monday (February 28), and his hand is seen covering his mouth while his wrists glisten in jewelry. The cover art reveal, which comes three weeks after Von’s team announced the album’s March 4 release date, follows the album’s lead single “Don’t Play That” featuring 21 Savage, which dropped earlier this month.

What It Means to Be King will follow the release of Von’s 2020 debut Welcome to O’Block. Before the Chicago rapper’s untimely death in November 2020, the OTF member had previewed “Don’t Play That” on social media.

Von’s former manager Track told VladTV in an interview that “Don’t Play That” was only one of hundreds of unreleased tracks.

“Just going through my notes, I found a hundred songs, not released,” he said. “One day, I went, I said, ‘Let me really see how much songs this man really had.’ Man got over 200 or 300 songs.”

21 Savage’s feature on “Don’t Play That” was also a no-brainer for Von’s team, since he was incredibly close with the late rapper’s family. He gifted Von’s young sister a brand new Range Rover following his death, a generous purchase that many criticized.
