JAY-Z emphatically stated there’s no one on earth who could face him one-on-one for a Verzuz battle. The Roc Nation mogul joined Alicia Keys’ Twitter spaces chat on Tuesday (December 21) and said matter-of-factly, “No one can stand on that stage with me. It’s not a chance in hell that anyone can stand on that stage with me.”
But at least one rapper begs to differ. As comments poured in online, Lil Jon offered his take and passionately predicted Busta Rhymes would easily beat Hov in a Verzuz battle: “BUSTA WILL SMOKE [smoke emoji] JAY Z [popcorn emoji],” he wrote.
Fat Joe would likely agree with Lil Jon. In September, the Terror Squad leader claimed other rappers are too afraid to face off with Bus-A-Bus, including himself.
“Fat Joe scared to do Verzuz with Busta Rhymes and so is everybody else,” he said. “You gotta understand, sometimes you ever notice — you seen boxers and they knock everybody out? People be scared to fight those boxers. Busta Rhymes is gonna outrap, outperform anybody who goes up in a Verzuz with him. That’s a fact.

“Yo, Busta Rhymes nobody wanna get in there with you, man. You might have to be an honorary — they gotta give you the check for no reason.”
Radio host J Cruz hopped in Hollywood Unlocked‘s comment section and pointed out, “Doing a verzuz has become a fear in many careers, even Hov knows there still a small chance the people will not choose him. Since the Nas battle he swore off the peoples vote.”
Verzuz has been omnipresent since Swizz Beatz and Timbaland founded the platform in 2020 as a way to combat the quarantine blues. It has since blossomed from an “Instagram Live show” to full-on events at places such as Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater and the Hollywood Palladium.
