West coast veteran Yolanda “Yo-Yo” Whitaker will join MC Serch of 3rd Bass fame as the co-host of ego trip‘s next series with Vh1. Ego Trip’s Miss Rap Supreme, will premier April 14 at 10 p.m., and features 10 contestants living in the “Fembassy” hotel, in pursuit of fame and a $100,000 cash prize.

Yo-Yo garnered rap fame as a protege of Ice Cube in the early ’90s. She released five albums, most notably 1991’s Make Way For The Motherlode, backed by the hits “Stompin’ to the ’90s” and “You Can’t Play With My Yo-Yo.” In 2006, the emcee said she was planning a comeback album with the help of famed west coast producers DJ Pooh and Dr. Dre.

In addition to rap, this will not be the first time Yo-Yo caters to the camera. She had a role in Boyz N’ The Hood, Menace II Society, as well as TV appearances on Martin, New York Undercover and others. In recent years she had also been an afternoon radio host on famed Los Angeles Hip Hop station KDAY.
