J. Cole signee Lute released his new album Golf Mouf via Dreamville/Interscope Records on Monday (October 4).

The Charlotte, North Carolina rapper’s latest project consists of 13 tracks with features from J.I.D, Little Brother, Ari Lennox, BJ the Chicago Kid, Cozz, Saba, Westside Boogie, Blakk Soul and DEVN. Gold Mouf serves as Lute’s second solo project on the label following 2017’s West 1996 Pt. 2.

An excited J. Cole wrote on Twitter, “GOLD MOUF !!!!!! LUTE JUST DROPPED!!! new album by @lute_west9 out now!!! IG being down can’t stop you n-gga!!! ‘n-ggas want more music.. I ain’t right within..’ potent!”

J. Cole’s manager and Dreamville co-founder Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad also hyped the album following its release.

“This album is special,” he wrote in a tweet. “My dawg @lute_west9 did an incredible job putting together a body of work that you can feel. Emotions and feelings that really cut through. I’m so happy this is out and I know y’all are too. Enjoy this incredible project.”

Lute signed to Dreamville six years ago and released his debut album in September 2017. In March 2019, he revealed to XXL he was working on three projects and talked about wanting to be considered more than just a Hip Hop artist.

“I’m working on three different projects right now,” he said at the time. “I got some shit for the Hip Hop n-ggas, some shit for n-ggas that wanna hear me on upbeat-type shit and then I got some shit that’s completely left field that I just want to experiment with.”

He continued, “I’m just trying to experiment with music because I don’t want to be put in a box. I don’t want to be just a Hip Hop artist. N-ggas know I can spit, but at the same time I want to make music that got replay value.”
