Kanye West was expected to deliver his 10th studio albumDonda at midnight EST on Friday (July 23), but that magical hour came and went without any new uploads to Ye’s DSPs. But for anyone familiar with Kanye’s album rollouts, this truly isn’t surprising and almost expected at this point.

In 2018, when Kanye held a listening party for yeat his Wyoming ranch, several journalists, DJs and producers — including Def Jam Recordings co-founder and frequent Kanye collaborator Rick Rubin, Eminem’s manager and Def Jam Chairman/CEO Paul Rosenberg and Charlamagne Tha God — were forced to sit around a campfire and listening to the crackling of burning wood after the event failed to start on time.

Then after releasing “Wash Us In The Blood” with Travis Scott, Kanye promised Donda (previously called Donda: With Child) would arrive in July 2020.

But that announcement appeared to bury another Kanye album allegedly called God’s Country, but neither of them ever materialized. Instead, Kanye dropped “Nah Nah Nah” and the “Nah Nah Nah (Remix)” before launching his failed presidential campaign.

As the hours ticked by and Donda didn’t arrive, the frustration with the whole thing was palpable on social media.
