DJ Khaled saved the best for last when it came to his monstrous pairings for collabs on his Khaled Khaled album. After unveiling the official tracklist, Khaled teased NYC rap legends JAY-Z and Nas colliding on “Sorry Not Sorry” alongside James Fauntleroy and The Hive.
“JAY-Z said: Khaled GOD LOVE YOU,” Khaled captioned the post. “I said: I LOVE GOD! GOD BLESSED MY ALBUM. MY FAMILY BLESSED MY ALBUM. JAY-Z BLESS MY ALBUM. NAS BLESSED MY ALBUM. THE HIVE BLESSED MY ALBUM. #KHALEDKHALED THIS FRIDAY APRIL 30 TH ! WE MAKING HISTORY! THEY SAID IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE SO GOD MADE POSSIBLE!”
The pair of rap deities haven’t linked up on a song together since Magna Carta Holy Grail‘s “BBC” in 2013 and prior to that in 2008 when they joined forces to assist Ludacris for “I Did It For Hip Hop.” They also connected on Hov’s American Gangster cut “Success” in 2007 and the year before that on Nas’ Hip Hop Is Dead track “Black Republican.”
The former enemies have come a long way since the days of “Takeover” and “Ether” dominating Hip Hop headlines and barbershop talk in the early 2000s. While it may seem like Hov steps on Nas release dates with his music, the two are on good terms as Jay brought the Queensbridge legend out for his B-Sides show reopening Webster Hall in 2019.
“Sorry Not Sorry” will release on Friday (April 30) alongside the rest of Khaled’s star-studded twelfth studio album. Khaled Khaled is slated to also feature guest appearances from DaBaby, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Lil Wayne, Post Malone, Megan Thee Stallion, Justin Bieber, H.E.R., Justin Timberlake and many more.
Magna Carter came out in 2013, Nas was on that smh…
The only released song Jay and Nas did was Black Republican for Nas Album hip hop is dead. Nas was not on Magna Carta.
Uh, yes he was. Listen again to the song “BBC” and tell me who that is on the first verse. Also, there’s “Success” off American Gangster and “I Do It for Hip Hop” off Ludacris’ album.
Magna Carta came out in 2013, Nas was on it. Not only does this website barely work but your “journalism” needs help too. I’m available smh…
Haha! I was like “for real?!?!?” How you gonna mess up the timeline involving 2 rap giants???? Fail!!!
Magna Carta came out in 2012. And Nas was not featured in it. So shut the fuck up.
I wonder is Jay-z going to try to rap like Nas again like he did on their first collaboration because he knew how basic and wack his style was going to sound next to Nas.
Did he change how he rapped when he was featured with Biggie…twice? And if you’re talking about the song Black Republican, he did what good rappers do….he rapped to the beat.
1st off, Biggie is not Nas. There’s nothing complex about Biggie’s flow. Jay-z’s style was more complex than his. Why would he change? Biggie’s brilliance was that his style was very simple but his flow was amazingly on point. 2nd, that’s funny. He mysteriously, all of a sudden found a fake Nas-sounding flow that he never used in his career? So that beat was at a different tempo than anything he ever rapped on? OK. Like I said, he knew how basic and wack his normal style would sound next to Nas, so he tried to rap like Nas. It’s not the first time Nas influenced him. It’s ok to admit.
He certified a classic locking down Post Malone. Great decision DJ Khaled. You won’t regret it. Shoot, I bet the joint will carry the album into Platinum status, of course with the single doing it first! All hail Malone!!!
Uhhh, Warhols on the doors of my Tesla Maybach, way back since hard knock life tours with the wave cap, your wave is cap…Fiends lying on the bridge like they sunbathing, Cries from my ribs touching, funds is what sons craving, light a bark, fire sparks from the bic, like yesterday seen my partner part in a split
#MumbleRap
King HOV will have the best verse on it, packed with double and triple entendres that will go over many fools’ heads. And baby money Nas’s verse will be the same ol boring shit he’s done for 30 years. Thank you Khalid for putting this together so we’ll see who the real GOAT is in 2021. It’s the ROC in here!
Jay Z probably doesn’t even write his own shit
You must be 16 years old. Jay is from the era when everyone got together in the studio and wrote their verses on the spot. Jay is the person who popularized writing lyrics in your head. Do your research before you comment on hip-hop kid.
Of course he doesn’t. He forms the rhymes in his head son, been doing so since he started his career. It’s the ROC in here!
You have to be the dumbest person in here…no cap
You like that shaking your butt rap music. You like working your butt to men. You my friend is a Jay Z butt banger!!!
I don’t seem to recall King HOV making “shaking your butt rap music” but whatever helps you sleep at night. You probably dance to “Oochie Wally” and “You Owe Me”. LOL. It’s the ROC in here!
The Either the shit to make soul burn slow lol.. Nas is King in NYC
Nas gonna glide on this. GOAT. Musically, Hov has lost my interest over the years but I still give him his props for his contributions to the game and getting to where he’s at today.
His past few projects or project involvments were pretty dope. Check out A Written Testimony, Everything Is Love and 4:44.
I’m with the other guy. Jay been pretty bad since American Gangster. I can’t be bothered to listen to him give corny financial advice like he has been lately. Also 4.44 was boring, once I was over the (likely fake) cheating scandal it had 0 replay value – the streaming numbers back this up. He’s not spit a verse where I’ve been like ‘damn’ since probably 2008ish. But I’ll still listen because he’s a legend.
Nah, I’ve listened to those. They’re pretty okay at best, nothing to make me go back and listen again. I’ll stick with Jay’s older work.
10 bucks says Hov mentions Basquiat dreads and Esco crypto stock
Finally DJ Khaled saves the day with good music.
So the fake Muslim brought together again a lot of overrated radio rappers and and wack rnb singers. Jay? Nas? GTFOH. Put The Grouch and Longevity on the track and I will believe it’s hiphop.
On all the tracks Jiggaman and Gods Son have done together, what do yall think the score count is on who had the hotter verses?
1-1-2 JAY ON BLACK REPUBLICAN, NAS ON SUCCESS, AND THE MCHG JOINT NOBODY WON BC THE SONG WAS TRASH. THE LUDA SONG I HAVE TO REVISIT, BUT SEEMS EVEN FOR THE TYPE OF SONG IT IS.
“while yall was have fun I was doing time locked up just praying for this locked up making a plan for this, without all that fancy shlt, wayyy to advance for this”
-Trickdaddy
I would even debate Jay on Black Republicans but its close, Nas got the Luda track most def. I agree with the others you listed. Anyways hope this track is fire. I feel Nas does get Jay to lift his game when they collab.
Nas and Jay…make a joint EP please and thank you. It is time to do it!
Khlad was binging on 8 bags of Reeses Cups when he came up with the title of the song
I lied guys…Nas is going to outrap Jay on this one.
Out of their collabs, Nas got Success and Do It for Hip Hop; Jay got Black Republicans. Not even going to mention BBC…
Nas got jay on black republicans, the only song jay may have got nas on is the song on magna carta
jay out you on X made you hot, now you walking around like some big shot… pssy.
TRASH!!!
It isnt that good def overrated. Black replublican was better. This sounds like jayz “song cry ” slowed up and added wit fillers. Im from Brooklyn and being from NY , i would of thought they would came alot more lyrical and raw trash. Like benny da butcher said , the richer they get , the more the bars and songs get trash.
