The No. 1 record has already hit multiple milestones to date including receiving a 2021 Grammy nomination for Song of the Year and being certified four times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), and now it’s hit yet another – it’s a Spotify billionare.
“Grammy nominated song of the year & Billboard #1 Hit for 7 weeks in a row is now at a BILLION+ streams on @spotify alone,” DaBaby announced on Instagram on Tuesday night (February 9). “Real nigga Rockstar, do anything but play wit em. appreciate y’all dearly for listening and enjoying. #ROCKSTAR.”
The SethInTheKitchen-produced song spent seven non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 over the summer, making for DaBaby’s first chart-topper. It was the second single released off his third studio album BLAME IT ON BABY, which also featured appearances from Migos, Future, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Megan Thee Stallion and more.
In December, the song was featured in the NBA’s nearly three-minute opening night promotional trailer, which included an appearance from DaBaby himself as well as NBA Star Point guards Jamal Murray and Luka Doncic. The North Carolina native also provided a foreword ahead of the Lakers championship ring ceremony.
