In December 2020, Rod initially shared the cover to Hard Times on Instagram, asking fans if they were ready to take in the new music. The album would be his first since 2020’s Pray 4 Love, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and spawned the hit single “Rags2Riches” with Lil Baby.

Despite the shots sent towards Alamo in regards of a release, the St. Petersburg native has enjoyed plenty of success since he broke through with “Heart On Ice” in 2019. The single, taken from Rod’s PTSD project on Alamo, went double platinum and helped his debut for the label, Ghetto Gospel earn a gold plaque from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Time will tell if Alamo listens to his desires and frees his Hard Times album for a more than rabid fan base.
