Lil Nas X attempted to breathe some levity into the tense situation surrounding the chaos at the U.S. Capitol building on Wednesday (January 6).

Taking to Twitter, where he often uses his colorful brand of humor to entertain his 5.4 million followers, the “Old Town Road” architect shared a photo of himself dressed in head-to-toe camouflage with the caption, “that’s enough I’m stepping in.”

Like countless others around the world, Lil Nas X watched in horror as hundreds of Trump supporters infiltrated the Capitol building, requiring both the House and Senate to be evacuated.

The goal was to stop the electoral vote count and prevent Congress from officially declaring Joe Biden the next President of the United States. But their efforts, of course, were unsuccessful and Congress solidified Biden’s win on Thursday (January 7).

But Lil Nas X was trying his best to keep things light, tweeting comments such as, “was gonna say something funny again but just realized the country is doing a thing again” and “why is twitter at its funniest when the world is collapsing.”
