Jim Jones Reacts To Benny The Butcher Shooting With Controversial Take

Jim Jones stirred up some controversy in February when he claimed being a rapper is “more dangerous” than being a soldier. But in the wake of King Von and Mo3’s recent murders and the Boosie Badazz and Benny The Butcher shootings over the weekend, the Diplomats OG apparently thought it was time to reiterate his previous sentiments.

On Sunday (November 15), shortly after it was confirmed Benny had been shot in the leg outside of a Houston Walmart, Jones fired off an Instagram post with a screenshot of the TMZ article announcing the news.

He wrote in caption, “So y’all still don’t agree with wht I said. Being a rapper is 1 of thee most dangerous jobs in the world. Get well soon bro stay safe stay dangerous.”

Jones’ initial comments earlier this year caught the attention of an Iraq war veteran who took issue with the comparison.

The vet, who went by the Instagram handle @mramcore, told Jones, “Heard the comments you made about ‘being a rapper is harder than fighting a war in Iraq…’ You allowed to have your opinion without any facts nor truth to it, but as a Vet and hip hop fan, I found it extremely disrespectful and ignorant.

“Here’s some facts, my unit which fought in Iraq 2004 lost more Marines in two months than ‘rappers’ in the past 3 years. Keep talking but there is zero comparison.”

Jim Jones Angers Iraq War Vet For Saying Being A Rapper Is 'More Dangerous Than Being A Soldier'

The 44-year-old New Yorker replied, “Here are facts. Every nigha I grew up wit is either dead or in jail, so u wanna compare death tolls it won’t add up. u went to army n met nighas U never knew or grew up wit.

“I grew up wit all these nighas all my life so it different. u wanna continue this debate. Yal was shooting at kids n innocent bystanders in the midst of shootin at the enemy. We was kids shootin at kids. That mentality split over to success.”

    1. It doesn’t have to be. But if your raps are chock full of fabricated tales or even real stories of how rich and ruthless you are, then someone is gonna test you. I’m sure Q-Tip, and Lupe, and OutKast and other rappers that don’t rapper about being a super-gangster don’t have to worry about getting shot every day. That’s the better career and better life. Do you wanna have fun and spread love at your concerts or do you want to wear a bullet proof vest and sneak out the back door with 15 body guards?

      1. All of the rappers you’ve mentioned d had have very close calls. QTip has been robbed at gunpoint. It’s Hip-Hop/rap in general. It reflects a larger underlying problem in urban culture and black/Latino communities. You don’t see country singers or rock stars getting shot or thrown out of their Ferrari’s at gun point. Corridos singers in MX get killed all of the time.

      2. You make good points but all those dudes was tested…particularly when they were yung in their careers & growing up where theyre from, the bottom. Lupe rolled wit gangstas yung, his business partner chilly doing 40plus years for dope. Ultimately, they made better decisions and stayed away from the negativity but its there. It aint about the content, its about where you from and the energies you keep around you. Nipsey wasn’t pushin violence in his music but he still got slept. Hiphop will always have an element of violence to it, that aggression sets it apart from most genres of music

        1. Your points are well taken, and I appreciate some civil discourse in here instead of trolling. But I would say, almost every famous person, particularly black famous people, are gonna have a few close-calls and run-ins. But Jim Jones is painting a far more grim picture than that. It’s more about the energy you put out there. The way you dress, the way you talk, what you rap about, what you promote. Let’s just be honest, Jim Jones is a rapper that has made a career mainly of promoting gang life. So, carrying around they gangster energy also attracts that kind of element in your circle. I’m sure the ‘conscious’ or ‘fun’ rappers have the occasional dust up but they’d never liken it to being a soldier at war. 99% of the time if you put out positive energy, people don’t mess with you. I been in the hood my whole life. I still am. When I was young, trying to look tough, I always attracted bad situations. When I grew up, and stopped trying to be the coolest and toughest guy in every room, those problems went away. You have to take responsibility for the situations you attract in your life. These aren’t just random attacks on these rappers. These are calculated attacks, from dudes who heard you talk about all your money, and your chains, and your Gucci purses or whatever these rappers brag about in every song, and they wanna see it. Them rings and things you sing about, bring em out. There’s a cost to carrying the image of a super gangster. If you don’t wanna pay that cost, then stop rappin about it in every song.

          1. There is a page with all of the dead rappers on it, those you’ve heard of and those you haven’t. It’s not pretty. It’s just what it is. They’re mostly from the hood, and a lot of hood people die young.

    2. Air Force veteran and loyal hip hop fan. Have to agree with both sides on this one because I was raised in the streets but joined the Military on my own and I do see where theses guys are coming from. My opinion I would never want to be a rapper because that lifestyle is very dangerous at least when I was in uniform we protected each other unlike fake friends do each other on the streets.

      1. Cops do kill black people for no reason, what happen to George Floyd, Breona Taylor? Policing in this country is not the same for blacks as it is for whites. On top of the violence that happens in Black communities as a result of the systemic oppression taking place everyday in this country, from redlining to Black people being told we are inferior by doctors who think we fill no pain. I’m sure you wanted to hop in just to troll the comment section because you don’t care or maybe you hold some implicit biases yourself?

        1. On top of the violence that happens in Black communities as a result of the systemic oppression taking place everyday in this country, from redlining to Black people being told we are inferior by doctors who think we fill no pain

Im tired of the no accountabilty bullsh*t. So these cats out here killing eachother like its a game hitting women kids elderly and innocent bystandards in the process. No remorse and no regard. And you want to put it all on “systematic oppression? No accountability just blame the white man. Thats weak.

Yes lets talk about the inferior doctors when you know damn well black men and boys alike DO NOT LIKE going to the dr. Not even to get a physical or checkup even with HEALTH INSURANCE

Yes racism is still an issue in this country but you better start holding us accountable for some of this bs cause blaming racism for all our ills aint doing a d@mn thinh

        2. George Floyd was killed by a crazy unprofessional cop. That wouldn’t have happened had he complied to police orders. Brionna was killed because she used to date a drug dealer, and some unprofessional cops got warrants illegally. Both of them weren’t exactly innocent. Idiot. In both situations, they shouldn’t have died, but that shit doesn’t happen to UPS workers who date normal working people. It also doesn’t happen to people with clean criminal records. Old Floyd pointed a gun at a pregnant girls stomach I believe?

        3. Lmaooo this idiot still thinks black people are being held back because of everyone but blacks. Crabs in the bucket mentality is the reason blacks can’t advance. Every race comes to America and advances but blacks who’ve been here for decades and can barely own a car lmaoo saddest race in America by far. Every other race knows it but won’t say nothing cause you crybabies cry all day

    3. I totally agree. At least a soilder has a legal license to carry a firearm everywhere and kill in self defense when attacked. Not to mention the survival training and being surrounded by other armed soilders with the same training. Being a Gen Z era rapper is pretty much a death sentence. They dont respect OGs nor do they care if they live long enough to become one. They are on some martyr type BS.

    4. Dumb ass rappers. They can always move to a different neighborhood like Hollywood or Miami. Soldiers have no choice but to fight in wars.

        1. And nobody forces people to be rappers. How does this strengthen your rebuttal? Every occupation is voluntary, but being a Marine is something you can’t leave once you enlist. You can simply quit being a rapper. You can do it in the middle of making a song, contract or not. Not that simple in the military. Stay safe and blessed!

        2. Let’s see how far your ability to post dumb shit online goes without a standing army to deter those who want to see this country destroyed. You MF’s are about as entitled as they come.

    5. I agree wit capo. more dudes wanna be rappers then make it to the nba or nfl. the jealousy gotta be unreal. mfs will hate you for no reason and that could be ya life. #staysafe

        1. It is a problem. but in all seriousness the reality is most kats in the hood dont even think theyre gonna live long enough to be a doctor or engineer

        2. It costs like $250,000 to go to school long enough to be a doctor. Where these dudes getting that money from? To be an engineer, you’re talking about a four-year degree at a school that’s probably not in your state, so you’re talking at minimum $100,000. Some of you people are detached from reality. There is a reason athlete or rapper is on every hood kids dream list, and it’s not because they’re lazy. There is also a reason that affluent families have kids that end up in those professions.

          1. Idk why dont u go ask every doctor u see how they did it. Focus and grind. Like 1 per of doctors were rich b4 they hussled and sacrificed

            1. Who said rich dummy. I can afford to send my kids to school long enough to do that because I have income to do so. Somebody living off welfare checks can’t. When you don’t have tuition at the beginning of the semester, they kick you out of school. That has shit to do with “grinding” or whatever other ignorant shit you typed. Some of you think everything is like the made for TV specials you watch where you get an academic scholarship to Johns Hopkins to cover everything free and clear.

    6. about as disrespectful and ignorant when the president lies to you to go to iraq where there no wmd and no connection between saddam hussein and osama bin laden.

    7. It’s the truth. Most soldiers don’t even see combat and be lying about shit they did because they were in a compound getting mortar rounds like their life was in danger. If you’re a rapper form the hood, you instantly have a target on your back in your hood and every one you’ll have to go to to make money. Some of these dudes invite the shit with how ignorant they act, but the streets seeing them as food is real.

    8. These are two completely incomparable arguments. First off, soldiers don’t just die in combat. Many die or are severely injured in training as well, not to mention the rate of suicides that are combat and PTSD related. Troops are also targets of foreign intelligence agencies and terror organizations. Rappers, whatever the definition of that nowadays is, find themselves in fucked up situations because trying to maintain an image outweighs their common sense. That’s why you don’t hear about Pop Stars, Rock Stars, country Stars, Blues Stars etc getting shot doing dumb shit. How many rappers die every year? How many troops? Why the fuck is this even an argument? Rappers are food out here because they are dumb and think money makes them invincible, we all know this. This conversation is direct proof. For our troops it’s an occupational hazard, born of the need for a standing military force. Not the same. Stop this dumb shit.

    9. Most of them die because of gang ties, like thousand other kids same age. The rest dies about braggin, therefore you just need attention. Mainly it’s not about rap.

    10. jimmy is right tho…back then if u get shot and then you see a hike in your sales due to the exposure….nowadays you gotta get shot AND die for some publicity due to the huge number of rappers n therefore more competition in today’s world….King Von just grabbed a top 5 billboard spot

    11. War is war. Whats a loss to you might not be a loss to me and vice versa. The topic of what is the cause? A cause for any war?

      The world

    12. Is it that dude got shot due to him being a rapper?… Or some stick up kids seen all the money hanging around dudes neck????
      Flossing is the real danger.
