Even though Freeway endured the painful loss of his eldest son last week, the Roc Nation affiliate still made his way to Joe Biden’s Philadelphia rally where he performed as part of Sunday’s (November 1) entertainment. The Democratic presidential nominee shouted out the State Property rapper during his time onstage.
“I also want to thank Philly Freeway for being here and performing,” he said. “I know he’s heartbroken about the loss of his son. I know the pain of burying a son and he does too now, unfortunately. It means the world to me he chose to be here because the election is that important.”
Biden lost his son Beau back in 2015 following a battle with brain cancer. Freeway then responded on Twitter on Monday (November 2) by thanking Biden and endorsing him for president.
“Me & my brother @oschinovasquez1 both lost our sons in the same week,” Freeway began. “@joebiden thank you for the kind words. I know you know the pain that comes with losing a son. We are from two totally different World’s but we can relate to each other. You have my vote on Tuesday!”

The Philly native revealed his son Jihad had passed away last week but didn’t get into any details as to what exactly happened.
“God knows I try my best to be strong, but this right here is a pain like I never felt, Please cherish your time and your love ones because we’re not promise the next breath,” Freeway wrote alongside a photo of himself and Jihad at his high school graduation.
These last few years have brought on some trying times for Freeway. After receiving a kidney failure diagnosis in 2015, Freeway finally got the successful kidney transplant he needed in 2019.
