More than a decade into his career, Machine Gun Kelly has finally earned his first No. 1 album. Billboard announced on Sunday (October 4) MGK’s Tickets to My Downfall album would be debuting atop their Billboard 200 album chart with roughly 126,000 album-equivalent units sold.
Even though he’s blended rock into his music in the past, Tickets to My Downfall would find him fully pivoting to alternative-rock and the risk paid off. MGK celebrated in style Sunday but first made sure to show some love to the fans for riding with him on this journey.
“The journey is a marathon, but this week was a race,” he wrote to Twitter. “I owe the fans everything for pushing so hard but you did it!! let’s celebrate now and again when touring opens up.”
Over on Instagram, he posted a video smashing a pink guitar cake on a van’s windshield. This already came after kicking the windshield out on his friend MOD’s car just the night before.

“WE DID IT,” MGK captioned. “#1 album. 126,000 units first week. to the fans + EST you really made it happen the way we talked about 10 years ago. today is a celebration. sorry random car.”
With Kelly signed to Bad Boy Records/Interscope, Diddy gave the Cleveland native his props on the achievement. Tickets to My Downfall is Bad Boy’s first No. 1 album since 2008.
“Beyond proud of you @machinegunkelly and your musical journey to find your truth,” Diddy wrote. “Congrats to you and your team on your first NUMBER ONE album #TicketsToMyDownfall!!! I told you that once you stopped giving a fuck it will all come together. Love you bro keep being fearless and pushing culture forward. You officially brought Rock back…a true Rockstar!”
