Audiomack teamed up with G Herbo and board-certified psychiatrist Dr. Jessica Clemons to host a mental health panel on Twitch. The discussion was part of Herbo’s Swervin’ Through Stress initiative, which is designed to help young Black adults get therapeutic resources.
“I wanted to gather everyone to encourage open dialogue so that we not only become a support system for one another but our fans as well,” Herbo said in a press release. “People are hurting. They need to know we understand and are here to offer our resources. Whether we accept being role models or not, we have the influence to help heal.”
The panel featured City Girls, Saweetie, NLE Choppa and Wale. Dr. Clemons served as the host, guiding the rappers through a virtual group session for almost an hour and a half.
“When artists share their experiences with mental illness or lend their voice to conversations about mental health, it helps others to be honest and open about their own experiences,” she said. “This work is an important contribution in the fight against stigma surrounding mental health. It can be the reason a young person decides to seek help.”
Watch the entire panel here and ign up for Herbo’s Dream Team Therapy Fund at his Swervin’ Through Stress website. The fund will pay for 12 weeks of therapy sessions to Black youth from the ages 18-25.
Nice where we see some of the younger guys as well as older guys in Hip Hop opening up about their true feelings…definitely time to turn the page on fake macho shit…men are macho by nature, but we’ve definitely set macho on a new (unreal) platform in hip hop.
don’t talk to me about mental health.
I get mentally ill listening to ratchet trash like City Girls (who just promote sex, being nasty hoes and superficial BS) and NLE Choppa (a fake Gangster “Rapper”) and Wale is irrelevant, never heard G Herbo and don’t plan too, they could have got someone that tried to end it all and bounced back instead of these bozos.
And none of these a-holes have any serious mental health diagnosed smh. Sick of celebs always doing this
