Swae Lee turned 27 in the middle of a global pandemic and biggest civil rights movement in history — and still managed to properly celebrate his birthday.

The Rae Sremmurd rapper entered another year of life on Sunday (June 7) and celebrated with friends and family at a pool party in Los Angeles. Amid swimming, beer pong and even fireworks, Swae capped off the celebrations with what would have been a pretty nondescript cake but instead of candles, it was lit with several joints.

Nobody attempted to eat the cake on video but based on the lighting struggles, the chances it was edible seem rather slim. Swae also teased what appeared to be some new music, but it seems that plan changed at some point.

“I had something special for y’all too,” he wrote with a slanted smiley face on Sunday afternoon.

The Mississippi native’s last release was his “Someone Said” single in February, and the world went into lockdown shortly afterward.
