Swizz Beatz & Timbaland Call Dr. Dre & Diddy To The Instagram Live Battle Stage

The Verzuz Instagram Live battle platform is heating up. After the RZA took on DJ Premier and Teddy Riley and Babyface (kinda, sorta) executed attempt No. 2 at their highly anticipated battle, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland have their eyes set on Dr. Dre and Diddy.

While speaking to Timbo on Monday night (April 20), Swizz told his 3 million Instagram followers it was time for the N.W.A mastermind and Bad Boy Records founder to step into the ring — only this one wouldn’t be free.

“Dr. Dre, we need him to know that we need him and P. Diddy,” Swizz said. We need Dr. Dre versus P. Diddy Pay-per-view for the culture. Let’s bring the two kings in and give back to the people. This is a give back to the people. Dr. Dre, P. Diddy, we are calling you to give back to the people. Pay-per-view [or] UFC-style with Verzuz.”

He added he wanted to dub it “a celebration, not a battle.”

Dre, who’s 1992 solo debut The Chronic just hit streaming services worldwide, has a monster catalog that includes everything from N.W.A’s 1988 classic Straight Outta Compton to his sophomore solo effort 2001 — hell, he could even pull “Turn Off The Lights” from the World Class Wreckin’ Cru discography if he wants to stir up some nostalgia.

On the other hand, Diddy could reach back into his arsenal of hits, which includes the 1997 solo single “Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down,” his tribute to the late Biggie “I’ll Be Missing You” featuring Faith Evans and 112 and “Mo’ Money Mo’ Problems,” his collaboration with The Notorious B.I.G. and Ma$e.

Teddy Riley & Babyface Make Instagram History With Epic Rematch

Instagram Live has proven to be a saving grace during the coronavirus pandemic, with many artists and fans turning to the giant social media platform to stay connected. According to Swizz’s latest Instagram post, he and Timbo will be making a big announcement soon.

Thank you and blessing !!!!!!!!!! #verzuz,” he wrote in the caption. “Thank you @babyface & @teddyriley1 for your greatness. @timbaland can’t wait to announce the next celebration on live.”

    1. Dre VS P Diddy? Cmon, make it against Jay Z, or an actual artist lol. P Diddy isn’t a producer or rapper… At leas in my opinion. These battles are super lame though… They just sit back and play their biggest hits… These battles should be exclusively “in the vault” music. Show us something hot that you could get the samples cleared to profit off it. Shoe us something new!

    2. How is it giving back to the people if the people have to pay? Also Diddy isn’t really a producer worthy a battle with Dre. Do a Dre vs. Kanye instead.

      1. Both have used ghostwriters, both from the golden era, both have monstrous catalogs and helmed the kings of hip hop – Pac and BIG! Let’s go!!!

    3. Diddy didn’t produce most of those bad boy hits. Dr. Dre gets more credit as a producer than he should.

    4. Puff is one of the greatest producers ever. What are you kids talking about? Seriously children. Calm your farm and let the grown folks talk. Puff got classics for days. You guys don’t know what a producer is.

      1. Puff did the mixing for The Hitmen, which was his production team…he didn’t even do the tracks on his own!

    5. Diddy’s not really a producer he’s just behind-the-scenes executive producer like Suge Knight on Death Row

    6. Any battle involving Puffy would be the biggest waste of a battle ever! All of his hits were produced with members of The Hitmen (Stevie J, D-Dot, Chucky Thompson, Nashiem Myrick, etc.)…individually, they were better producers than him! On the other hand, I’d love to see Dre battle someone who’s worth battling.

    7. MOST OF YOU STAY IN THE HOUSE. U KNOW NOTHING ABOUT MAKING MUSIC. DIDDY IS A BONAFIDE CO-PRODUCER AND SOUND ARRANGER. ID SAY DIDDY WOULD MOP DR DRE!!! PLUS DRE LITERALLY HAD NEW YORK GHOSTWRITERS SO COME ON.

ANNNNDDDDDDD DIDDYS RANGE OF MUSIC GENGRES ARE VAST. LETSSSS GOOOO EAAASSTTCOASSTTTTT

      1. Sorry, Dre’s work with NWA, Snoop’s Doggystyle, and Chronic kills all of Puffy’s work alone

    8. WHEN U MAKE A MUSIC SONG YOU HAVE A BEAT MAKER OR MORE ..A MASTER ENGINEER….SONG WRITERS…VOCAL AND HOOK ARRANGERS IDIOTS

WHEN YOU PRODUCE SOMETHING YOU BRING TO LIFE IN MANY WAYS….NOT JUST ENGINEER. ME AND MY TEAM IN PHILLY NICE WITH PRODUCTION AND WE UNDERSTAND THE MANY HATS PLAYED INTO MUSIC PRODUCING. YALLLLLL BEEEENNNN LAMMESSSSS ANDDDDDDDDDS ONLY HAVE THE INTERNET CRABS

    9. “‘Give back to the people” give what back? There is plenty of dope hip hop yet you purposly always try to ignore it and co sign wack rappers now everbody wants to do this nonsense for the culture?

    10. Dre, at least is a real DJ. Puffy is a dancer. Great businessman but looping an already popular song and adding a rapper and and new singing hook does not make you a musical genius. Dre did this a few times as well but he does have a real hand in producing. Dre bs Pharrell or Kanye or something like that. C-ya Puffy!
