Nicki Minaj did more than shake her tailfeather at this year’s Carnival.

TTT News captured the globally recognized superstar, who hails from Saint James, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, as she donated $25,000 to the St. Jude’s Home for Girls during her recent return back to her old stomping grounds.

“I want to thank you for your work with the girls,” she told onlookers during her February 27 visit. “I want to thank you for giving them hope and inspiration, and they’ve even given me hope and inspiration being here today. And I want to donate $25,000 to help the girls.”

Nicki also expressed her plans to build a youth center and gave the students a bit of golden inspiration.

“I came to get ideas and you guys gave me a lot of great ideas on creating a building here in Trinidad where young people can go to and have recreational fun,” she continued. “I’ve experienced being in a home with domestic violence. I’ve experienced being at a very difficult crossroads as a teenager. And sometimes as a teenager when things happen, you feel like there’s no ‘up’ from there … if you have to use my life as a lesson that there are better days ahead.

Afterward, nearby schoolchildren mobbed the “Yikes” rapper’s vehicle and she hopped out and posed for photos.
